I'm thinking of buying a 6 pack of Billy Beer off Ebay. Not to collect, to actually drink. I've got a wedding to go to in a few months and the groom is something of a beer nut, so I thought the amusement of springing this up as a surprise would be worth the expense(hopefully not too much). What I'm not sure of is the safety of drinking 30 year old beer. Any thoughts?

You'll probably have a bad taste in your mouth for a week, but other than that I don't think it's harmful. Beer-related research would be your best bet.

Regardless, I would recommend not doing this the night before the wedding, just in case.

Billy Beer reminds me of The Simpsons.

How expensive would a 6 pack of that be anyway?

From what I understand, they are not actually that rare, but a lot of people think they are. So it can vary depending on if I can find someone selling for a reasonable amount or only price jackers.

Not harmful, but think about how milk goes bad, now beer doesn't curdle, but it does the beer equivalent.

I drank a 2 year old heini and that was a bad idea, let alone 30.

We had a going away party for a friend of mine who was leaving the country for a year. We kept six cans of beer in my fridge for when he came back.

One year later we drank those year old beers. They were pretty horrible.

The idea came at the end of the night after they had been in the fridge during the party.

lol Considering that Billy Carters beer of choice was apparently Pabst, I can prolly bet that the original beer was pretty crappy. Now add to the fact that it probably wasnt refrigerated for those 30 years and regular beer doenst store for nearly that long means you have some really skunky beer on your hands were you to choose buying it.

Good thing you chose not to.

i have one can of billy beer! i wanna try it but i fear my health/life might be in danger.
