I see alot of bards lugging this piece of trash around, and im confused as to what they are thinking. Terra's staff and Apollos staff each add's 15% accuracy, wich clearly adds up to alot more then +20 acc and some odd from chr. People really need to start learning atleast the absolute basics of the game.

Is there even a situational use for it for any of the above jobs? Elemental staves are just too powerful, and since they're usable by all jobs, makes it hard to beat I guess.

I could possibly see rdm wanting a potency/accuracy mix, but not a very usefull one, since your gonna be etter of using a elemental staff and loafing up on potency in more other slots. So.. ummm no, its trash.

C'mon Caerloc, you know that SE likes to throw around pointless items for the people who don't think to waste their time to get and use. . .

This has been frustrating me for awhile. Glad it's doing the same for other people.

keep in mind that there are tests going on to determine what exactly does magic accuracy. But if you go by the melee accuracy formulas, you get:

- HQ staves: +15% success rate, or accuracy +30, if 2 acc=+1% success...

-new staff: acc+20 gives +10%, and CHR+10 gives Magic acc +5, which is... +2.5% success.

so HQ staves are better, but this staff is better than NQ at least.

Keep in mind that no one knows if magic acc follows the same rules as melee acc!

Only use I can find atm is for full potency slow2 and paralyze2 on rdm, with additionnal accuracy.

This is a great potencty peice for rdm enfeebles IMO.
Lets see
You can now get 16 MND with club + shield.
With staff and grip its 12 MND.
So 4 MND in exchange for 20 magic acc.
Lol id take that anyday of the week. Means i can drop AF body and wear errant for enfeebling low lvl hmn and such.
For nuking and other jobs its crap though yes.

I at first glace, thought this would be a hella nice piece, then when I thought it through, I say meh.

Yea. I thought this was a great piece when I first saw it. But alas, I will always be cursed with lugging around a million gil worth of two staves with no possibility of reimbursement.

ok someone remind me what the difference between +20 and +15% is +1 only = .01 or .1?

Actually im pretty sure the hq staff adds a raw +15% accuracy. Now bard "skill to accuracy" is extra tricky since its a combination of 2 skills, mostly wind and singing skill. But even if assuming that your accuracy is just a middle value of your singing and windskill, your still looking at 15% of roughly 250 skill or +37,5. Assuming the rule of 1 skill = 0,9 acc passed 200, you get +34.

Now personally, i dont think brd's get a simple middlevalue between the both skills, simply cause brds have way better accuracy than something deriving from 250ish skill.

its well know that HQ staves give +15% success rate, not accuracy. For BLm nukes at least.

I am glad they added this piece. For the longest time the population was under the impression that magic accuracy did absolutely nothing for bard. I'm glad this piece at least caused people to start doing testing. Bard is one job that doesn't have much in the way of testing done on it.

I guess this is because bard is a job that you can just gimp the hell out of and no one will care either way. But imo it matters when you want to hit tiers for buffs.. But a lot of people aren't even aware of what singing/wind/string skill actually does for buffs. I'm glad we're finally learning more about the job.

+15% success rate of rate not resisting? wouldn't that be the same as accuracy?

Actually i think what is well known is that the elemental staffs increases in power with yourself. The more basedamage you do, the bigger the bonusdamage from the staff. The higher your base accuracy is, the higher the bonus accuracy from the staff. There is no fixed static +30 m.acc on it.

I've talked to a few people who have it on both Phoenix Server and Twinblake from our server, and 3 out of 5 of them say that this staff cons better than the HQ staves in terms of resist rate and duration. Though that doesn't include a change in potency of songs like Elegy and Threnody. They didn't do extensive tests with equations and such, so their findings may have just been coincidence.

This piece is ideal for SCH's helixs and elemental Dots. Other than that i see, maybe potency for rdm enfeebles and inv-1.

An absolutely stunning piece. I got this not to long ago and after testing it on mobs like soul flayers and HNM I notice a huge difference and really love this staff.

I think it depends on your merits. I myself do not have 8/8 wind and sing as I split my merits up evenly between my magic jobs and I can say im almost certain it is better than an HQ staff if you don't have capped merits of the magic you are using.

If you have 8/8 wind and sing Terras is probably best but As an ffxi endgame veteran I have many mage jobs and didn't want to use all my magic merits on BRD so this piece is absolutely stunning and its high drop rate so I encourage more BRDs to go for it.

Also, IF you can get your hands on a Shadow/Valkryies coat this would be amazing setup. I have yet to uncurse my Hbody due to waiting on -1 synth but once I do ill do more testing.

This isnt the flameboard, so i'll try to restrain myself. Simply no. It's simple math. And you eyeballing an effect and wanting it to better isnt gonna change that.

Elegy doesnt even have a potence-range....
