4yr old drunk'n theif

(that would typically make a suction noise from the air lock and jingling sound from various glass containers being jiggled in the door compartments)

My fridge doesn't suck or jingle =(

First of all people need to stop worrying about my kids. If anything, I'm worried about all your kids because quite frankly you all seem to be very lax in your parenting.

Secondly, I'm not implying he's a bad person or parent. All I'm saying is if he didn't do those things his kid would not have left the house. It was PREVENTABLE.

Let's explore this further. Let say the situtation he described was EXACTLY the same except he came home had twelve beers. Would he be a negligent parent then? What's the difference? Everything unfolded exactly the same way except now all of you would be demonizing him.

Apparently I'm the only person here who worries about the kids all the time. Who makes sure the doors are locked every night, who doesn't keep alcohol or any other dangerous substance of that matter with in there reach, who has an alarm system not just to track them but also is an intruder decides to break in and harm them. Yes I'm a vigilent parent because you can do a millions things right but you only have to fuck up once.
THERE ARE NO SECOND CHANCES if god forbid something bad happens.

For the 25th time, you're living in a fantasy world. If you analyze and scrutinize down to the finest detail, nearly everything is preventable. There's a line you have to draw though, otherwise the whole point of living and enjoying life is overshadowed by making sure nothing bad can possibly happen. For example, if we're to take your advice and take every possible measure to make sure nothing bad can EVER happen, you get a sort of "Final Destination" situation, where you remove anything sharp from the house, and you're not really living at all. As ridiculous as it may sound to you, and as much as you'll come back and say the woman was still negligent, this is exactly what you're suggesting. Either that, or you just have something against the woman in question.

All this woman is guilty of is not being anal. I dread to think what living in your house is like if anything with the potential of being dangerous is removed. You're now making it out that the issue is the alcohol. You need to read what people are saying. When I say "It's not about the alcohol (when he only had half), that means "it's not about the alcohol", regardless of how many he had. I think though that if he had 2-4 more, you'd start hearing him wandering about the house.

All she's really guilty of is falling asleep. There is no law saying you have to have a certain lock on your door. There is no law saying you cannot have alcohol in your house. There is no law calling what happened here negligence. There is no reason to assume that just because "Tomasello says the kid should go, the kid should go." I don't think you've really thought this through, and you're one of the people creating this "cotton wool" theory. I'd like to see how you plan on stopping your child from drinking until an age where you think it's allowed. Seriously, the best you can do is have none in the house. If you kid wants to drink at 12, 13, 14 or whatever, they'll do their best to find a means of obtaining it. Also, it's far more likely to happen to a parent who tells their kid "no, that's dangerous" as opposed to "yeah, you can have a bit, but you spew on my carpet you're getting no supper".
