OOC: Well I've heard so much about QCDN... and well I've been on Quetzy for over a year now so I thought now would be good to join lol. I thought it would also be great to talk to you all and get to know my fellow FFXIers on my server a little more. I enjoy creative writing and I am between classes at my college right now. I love role playing so I decided to write this quick story about my dragoon and how I met the DRG in my static for my whm Zautha. Anyways enjoy ^_^
The sun slowly began to set across the lands of Vana’del. The heavens above seemed to breathe in what light still remained above the world, exhaling the night sky. A soft wind was birthed across the lands, gently caressing and bending the blades of grass and whispering softly through the trees. Prosperity, peace and silence were created during this transformation of the sky. The perfect night, the perfect moon to cast away…
“Drat!” Reya sighed between her parted lips, gritting her teeth tightly together as if to with hold a burning frustration. “This is the second rod tonight!” the young warrior’s brow rose as she released a calming sigh, twisting her reel once more as her fishing hook ascended from the steady flowing river outside the castle walls of San’doria. A simple past time the young Bastokian enjoyed doing in her spare moments, fishing became quite the hobby when the moon was right and dusk was approaching. Visiting the Elvaan kingdom after several long expeditions requested by the grand city of Jeuno and her own homeland, this hume greeted the chance for a break with open arms. Dressed in a simple fishing tunica with leggings, boots and gloves to compliment the attire, she appeared to be no different from any other of the residents of the kingdom. Reya enjoyed keeping it this way; she was never one to draw attention to her. Yet, rested firmly against her back, slipped securely and carefully in its own hold, lay dormant, a large lance. The burden of the weapon might seem incredible to any other commoner not familiar with the ways of battle, but brought a comfort to its bearer. The lands of Vana’del could never be considered safe as it once was. With frequent beast men raids, it was unwise to venture far from town without a weapon or escort. Raising a small gloved hand, Reya brushed back several stands of her short dark brown hair, tucking it behind her ear, as another sigh escaped her throat. “Well, I guess this will do for the evening. I don’t want to worry Raesvelg or Aragaeon.” A small smile danced across her lips with the mention of her two closest comrades as the warrior began to pack away her fishing tools and lures. The calm scene was soon to be disturbed as the rustle of leaves and violent splash of water overcame the silence. “….?” Raising her gaze, Reya narrowed her brow, slowly rising to a full stance. Her eyes studied in silence as she attempted to identify the creator of the ruckus. A shout pierced through the forest of Ronfare as a single man stumbled out from a neighboring thicket, colliding with the river, hands first to attempt to stable him against the current and uneven rocks. As if instinct took full control over any sort of logic, Reya, reaching behind her, unsheathed her weapon. Holding it firmly, she drew the lance before her, eyeing carefully the man. “Run!” He cried out, as he desperately tried to regain his footing. A series of growls echoed through the winds, sneaking out from the brush from where he fell. Reya’s body grew cold then. She was without her armor or her friends. A cold sweat trickled from her brow in response to the unknown. Regaining his composure, the stranger arose, his garments completely soaked as he forged the river to its opposite bank. “They’re here!” he gasped. Emerging from the thicket were two pairs of blood red eyes and fully dressed armor. Biting down on her bottom lip, Reya took a quick swallow as if to reassure her own current situation. “Goblins…”
