First off, I'm not sure if this thread should constitute as a flame or not since it's not really aimed toward a player (Dua is a bastard, sword).
I figured since it has to do pretty much strictly with the game and new stuff it would belong here. If a mod thinks differently, please move this.
Yeah,so, patch day. The long awaited debut for the capital of the Zilart, Al'Taeiu/(sea)/sky2. Who wouldn't be pumped after waiting months since the last missions you could complete until then? We logged in right as the servers came up and proceeded to start the missions. They were not incredibly hard (find the ??? fun, spawn some NMs, etc) and in a full party would probably take about 30 minutes to complete (total). Then came the main attraction.
Being that full parties of reasonably equipped 70+ were coming out toast we theorized that our trio could probably not defeat the BC. We actually teamed up with our half party with another half party while the other (mostly jp) pts were coming out with grey names and black lifebars wondering how to deal with a level 4 skillchain that instantkilled their whole pt (SE really did upgrade SAM). We went in, kicked (the boss) in the face with no two hours, items, or pre-buffed tp and strolled into the celestial capital like Paris Hilton into one of daddy's hotels.
What we found was....
underwhelming:
Access to only about 50% of the zone of Al'Taeiu (which features aggro in the third dimension), and after some rather unnecessary timesinking you can get a map to prove you only have access to that 50%, then you can do some even more time wasting to enter the Grand Palace of someonewhosenameyouwillneverneedtoknowtospell to find out again you are limited to the first 30 feet of the zone (but you do get a nice ring usable at level 60 with infinite warping to the safehold). Awesome.
So far there isn't really anything to do there, and that's kind of disappointing. I don't think it is really unreasonable for there to be access to more than half a zone and a zonein. Seriously, they could have done better than this. For now I can pretty much say the zone is pretty worthless, so if you come to Al'Taeiu expecting something significant don't forget to bring your own bottle of lotion since SE is definitely not putting out.
