If you give a girl a ring, it's her's and not yours. If she doesn't wanna give it back, sucks for you. Doesn't hurt to ask but from a legal standpoint there isn't anything you can do about it.
 
It's a promise ring, man, not an engagement ring. Unless you're out a significant amount of money, I wouldn't bother asking.

update... i actually went to get it back but she refused to give it back, cant exactly break into her house and steal it back can i? she kept pullin the "its a gift you gave it to me" and she wont give it back to me .... gahhh

if i want to be a dick i could bring her to court to win but it will take to much effort and im way to lazy to :(

In that case, you're screwed.

I think it probably would have worked better in your favor if you had asked for the ring right after you broke up and she may have been more willing to give it up. Since you've waited this long, she probably thinks you're just going to pawn it for money to get something else or whatever.

Though I still don't think it is a dick move to ask for it back (personally opinion only; while I have kept jewelery from ex boyfriends before, I wouldn't be too upset to part with something that has now lost all its meaning, or reminds me of something I'd rather not remember), it is in her right to keep something that is a gift.

First of all.... who give a girl a promise ring...? I don't get that. Really.

Secondly, there is no way you can "force" her to give back that ring. You gave it to her, it does not belong to you anymore, and she can do with it what she wishes in the eyes of the law.

And for god sakes man, stop asking for it back. Not only is that a dick move, but it also makes you look cheap as hell.

$100 .... I know that figure might be age relevant in terms of affordable income but i just can't see the girl setting herself up for life with it.


If 6 months has past..... don't get bogged down in who is right and who is wrong instead it's probably time to ask why getting it back is still so important after all this time?
 
She could live for life with that but as of what ive seen from her and heard about her that 100 dollars would last her 1 second shes kind of become a vacume to food and stds... :( thank god we broke up

It's a PROMISE RING!! (first of all..what the hell is that?) It's not like you were getting married to her and she isn't giving back the engagement ring you gave her. It's just a fricken Promise Ring, I dunno why you want it back, probably just to sell it or something, but man just move on.
