I just hate the fact that, by law, people in the UK have to pay some £140 a year to the BBC (whether or not they watch the BBC, who are (currently) the only organisation to benefit from the license fee) and then report stuff like that.

And yeah Crumpet, I know what you mean. I remember a few years back when I was living in Cambridgeshire the ITV local news section spent 15 minutes covering a duck that had been shot with a crossbow. If that wasn't bad enough, the next news story spent about 30 seconds covering a girl who was in intensive care having been hit in the face by a golf-ball. Talk about not having priorities sorted...
