Ok... does anyone know how to remove the blue background from a model viewer picture? I really dont feel like erasing it manually. I thought i saw somewhere how you could do that, but for the life of me I can't remember where I saw it. I have v. 7.0 if that helps.

Thanks in advance...

And sorry if this is in the wrong place, but this was the only topic I thought this would belong in.

use the magic wand tool
it will select a sertan section or you can set it to select a single color

magic wand tool is good, but can be cumbersome. It can remove a layer of pixels you don't want removed and it's tough in those hard to reach places..

I recommend color range. It's in the Select menu. Just select the blue in the document, make sure fuzziness is at 40. Hit OK and it will select all of the blue background. Just hit delete and your set.

Magic Wand works wonders for me, use a tolerance of 20. Never tried that colour range thing, been looking for it though... thanks Elp.

Magic Wand FTW!!!!!!!

Keep in mind that the magic wand is only really good for solid edges, like that of what you'll see in model viewer image files.

On a more detailed image, (One with several colours) the magic wand is useless. So don't rely on it for photos and such.

misunderstanding. The question is removing it in photoshop, not the model viewer. What you are showing is just how to change the background color, not completely remove it.

Why do you guys use magic wand when magic eraser is the same thing but you dont have to hit delete after? You guys aren't being efficent. Just whip out the magic eraser click once and BAM, no more background.

I don't want to start an argumant over how people use photoshop. Everyone has a system that they find comfortable and it works for them.
All the tools have a purpose and a use. I suggested color range because out of all the eraser tools it is the most "efficient" considering it picks out the color you want to get rid of throughout the visable document. This works well with the model viewer images because it will pick out the blue even in the little areas with out effecting the original image.

I gotta admit, I've been using the colour range selector for less than a day and I'm loving it already. Never received any formal training on photoshop since v4, and even then it was a pretty hokey course. Definitely will be seeing many uses for it though.

Lol i was semi joking. I mean i do you magic eraser alot because im just lazy but select > color range is very good too.

I find the magic wand great for Model Viewer pictures. I just set the background in the model viewer to some extreme random color that isn't in the character and set that as the background, so the magic wand makes it very easy.

Well actually, magic eraser is another tool I hardly ever use. But when I'm making sigs or just doing random chopping, I hardly ever work on the imported photos directly. I have my template psd open in the background, drag the modelviewer shot in, then just drag the layer of the model into the template.

What about Flexify... anyone played with that much?
