my system currently has the required specs for the game, minus the video card. doing the benchmark, it wont even show the video. so, that much i know i need to upgrade. after all, it is about 2-3 years old (nvidia 7600). so with this, i may just do a completely new system.

first thing. obviously, the more cores you run, the more programs you can run efficiently. so, im contemplating get this.....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103851
however, since i wouldnt be doing alot other than just winamp, web browsing, and ffxiv, not sure if this would really be needed. however, for the price it cant be beat. but at the same time, i almost find it a bit redundant when a quad core would suffice and have 2mb more L3 cache but be the same price range.
what do u think?

still searching for other parts, so ill be updating as i find them.

memoryhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220398 not sure on the mobo yet. did find this one...not setup for triple channel, so, i may disregard this one to find something that would accept tri channel....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131633.... or even this one. this one is a tad more expensive but has more support for multiple video card options and different ram types. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130236

video- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127518 ....has just above the recommeded amount of the clock speed. reasonably priced IMO.

other than that, i have hard drives already. really considering a small solid state drive to run games only. probably getting a 600-800w power supply. probably only going to run 1 card and 2 drives and one, maybe 2, dvd burners. as far as cases go, not really sure.. ill cross that road when i get to it.

i think that is all? dont think im missing any pieces of the puzzle

I got a card from tigerdirect thats running beta flawlessly for 150. I want to say its an ATI Sapphire Radeon 5700 HD card.

ill have to check it out! im all about going cheapest

Triple channel is reserved for LGA 1366 / Core i7 combo, so yeah, you might want to reconsider that :). I just finished building a nice little AMD setup for a friend who wanted to do a couple of things. I guess I can share what I built with you to give you an idea ^^.

RC-330-KKN1 CoolerMaster Elite RC-330 43,86 $
S12II 520 SeaSonic S12II 520W 79,99 $

GFC-00602 Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit FR OEM DVD 127,18 $

For a grand total of 980,11 $CAD. I'm still waiting for my windows to fire up everything but it should give very good result considering a budget limitation for a gaming computer. I hope it can help you out bro and give you a couple of ideas :).

Ninja edit:
- Taken on NCIX.com.
- System was designed with only 1 card in mind, therefor the 520w psu.
- Consider a 60/80gb SSD drive, especially if you're planning to run Windows 7 on that thing.

i already have drives. so, i wont have to worry about that. luckily, i should be able to sell the system i have and at least have half the cash for the new one. as far as windows is concerned. ill EVENTUALLY have to get windows 7 for 64 bit and the use of over 4 gigs of memory. so, until then, i wouldnt be able to go over 4 gigs anyhow. i will probably get a 4 gig setup and buy a stick or two as i upgrade OS.

but again, luckily i already have HD and dvd burner. that will save me money there. id really like to consider using SSD though. when i upgrade OS, i should budget to do that at the same time.

I'll look at the card tomorrow and tell you what it is. On low res, because I only have a 19 inch monitor I didn't fark with the high res, I scored a 2200 on bench. Haven't done fraps to get a frame rate idea in cities for 14 as I'm trying to keep my gaming machine free of clutter.

looking on tigerdirect, found this nice bundle. not really a huge markdown. but, i do like the processor. plus, that is one of the boards i was thinking about.

3.2g six core. i wouldnt have to upgrade for a while, which is a nice plus.

upon further review and thought, since there arent a whole lot of applications that would utilize this processor, would really go to waste. im going to go with a quad core amd to keep the price cheaper and still keep with the performance. intel typically has better benchmarks, but also quite overpriced imo. so, ive been contemplating this one

as an update, ive completed the system. only really cheap component i went with was ram, which i had ordered today.i dont really forsee myself overclocking, so i went with patriot 2x 2gig ddr3 1333mhz ram. no heatsink, which shouldnt be an issue running mostly stock.
for video, i went with the xfx ati hd5850 1gb / power supply- corsair 750w / motherboard-MSI 890FXA-gd70 with an AMD phenom II x4 970 AM3 black addition processor @3.5 Ghz stock

waiting on my ram to come in so i can finish putting it all together.

was going to go with the low end intel i7 and a low to midrange motherboard combo set. that would have costed me 500 bucks. after contemplating, i decided to go high end amd with high end motherboard for 100bucks less. the ram...well, that costed me 35 bucks a stick. so, thats why i went with cheap. i can manage without a heat spreader since no OCing will be done. i went as high end as i could go and still feel that it wasnt a fruitless purchass. video card, i wanted to go high, but i wasnt going to spend rediculous amounts of money on an extra gig that wouldnt even matter in the end.
