Duke nukem forever sees the light of day

Just watch. After a release date is set, if they delay it the reaction will be priceless, fuckin' priceless.

not entirely true. The guy heading the project at gearbox was a member of 3d realms and helped create duke nukem 3d.
During the live show he also talked about the fact that instead of just picking up the game, he picked up several 3d realms developers that were the original hands at creating duke in the first place and put them on the team with gear box to get this thing rolling. Not sure exactly what they did on the project besides giving direction, but 3d realms had a hand in it as well.
The guy said he did all this as a way of giving something back to the game and people that got him started.
But of course the fact that its coming out and as soon as next year, is all gearbox haha.

Hey let's nitpick.

Okay, all it took was not having George Broussard taking lead for the game to come out.

I thought that the problem with DNF is that the publisher didn't want to give more money for it, but the developers couldn't finish it with the budget given so they sat on it for the longest time since they couldn't break contract and scrap it.

That was what cancelled it.

The reason the game never came out was because George Broussard went all perfectionist, scrapping dozens of builds and making the team start over.

You know... I wonder if that guy who pre-ordered the game from Gamestop in 2001 will still have that pre-order promise honoured.
