Hey guys,

we just had the lottery to see who would pick first in fantasy football league. This is a private league with some frineds and family of mine.

It is a Fox Sports Fantasy Football league. 6points for touchdown thrown and 1 pt for every 25 yards (Quarterback)

6 points for rushing td and 1 point for every 10 yards

6 points for recieving td and I do not know how much point per yard.

I can start 1 QB 1 RB 1RBorWR 1WR 1 TE 1 K 1 ST/D

I got selected to pick first, and I am at a loss on who to draft, LT Adrian Peterson, Tom Brady, Peyton manning...I do not know who to pick. Any help would be cool, I have never ever in my years picked first, LOTS OF PRESSURE AH!!!!

RBs rack up the most points, personally i would gove with Bryan Westbrook, although theres a chance u might be able to get him in the 2nd round depending on how many people u have in the league. Bryan westbrook can rack up 1300 and 700+ receiving yards which is killer. However the big debate is LT Vs. AP. AP is injury prone, so i would choose LT because of his consistency. Also, LT loses Michael Turner so hes going to carry much of the load.

Then again, LT is hitting that age where he might start to decrease.... decisions decisions. IMO, you cant go wrong with Westbrook

Take Peterson and then hate yourself if LT has a better year lol.

How many people are in your league?

I'd go with LT, but if it's a small league I'd take a risk. I'd draft Tom Brady 1st round, and try to get Randy Moss 2nd round. If moss isn't available, i'd use 2nd round for a running back and grab wes welker 3rd round. I'd only take brady 1st overall if it was a small league though. I'd grab LT. Hard to say AP is injury prone since this will be his 2nd year. I just wouldn't bank much on him because of the inability of the passing offense in Minnesota. LT would be best for you.

I was leaning towards LT. Just wanted to see if I was not seeing something. The league has 8 people in it.

I really do not want to risk taking Peterson, and I can probably get a decent enough qb in the 2nd and third rounds.

Westbrook last year had 2,100 yards combined rushing/receiving. More than LT and Peterson, and had 12 total touchdowns, same as Peterson, and 3 less than Tomlinson. Westbrook has only gotten better every year. Consider it

I'm an Eagles fan and I draft westbrook every year, and willie parker every year lol I know dude. I'm simply worried about how he holds up, he hasn't played a full 16 weeks yet. He was injured early in his career. If McNabb doesn't play too well, they'll lean on westbrook more. That makes it even more challenging for him to stay healthy, though he'll be seeing more touches and thus more fantasy points. However, Westbrook also isn't a selfish player. Selfish players with that much talent are the best fantasy pick ups. Ballhogs, if you will

Delite, pick me. pick me first, pick me.

Anyways, pick LT. All these other guys are guys you can pick in later rounds that have a good upside, but aren't guaranteed.

Even last year, LT had a lot of BAD games(by his standards) and still ended up having like the 6th most fantasy points or whatever. As much as I wish he would, Randy Moss won't put up numbers like he did last year, even late last year teams started to shut him down. Look for him to break out late in the season as the Pats adjust to what teams are doing to him by going to Welker underneath, and then teams will adjust to that by zoning Welker which will like ly give Moss a chance to bust it open deep.

That being said, in an 8-person league, in the 2nd round you could end up still being able to draft a high tier QB or WR, a la Carson Palmer(Brady and Manning will be gone in the 4-5 hole probably).

So much stuff to consider by getting the number 1 spot. I guess I have a lot more to think about that I thought. So many different choices.

Hi shy, you still super gay?

Here's your draft:
1) LT
2) Westbrook
3) Adrian Peterson
4) Brady
5) Manning
6) Larry Johnson
7) Steven Jackson
8) Romo
9) You grab a QB, Palmer-McNabb (Risk)-Breez-Favre

3rd round, snatch a TE. In a small draft like this, there's 3 TE's that put up numbers. Snag one, and grab a sleeper WR in the 4th round, then a 2nd RB in the 5th round.

I just drafted in a 12 team league last night, and a 10 teamer last week. Both drafts went LT-AP-Westbrook-Addai-Brady. I picked 3rd in the draft last night and got Westbrook, but highly considered stretching for Brady. Like Airou said, RB's do rack up the most points, but Fantasy has changed considerably over the last 3-4 years. Far more teams go with tandem RB systems, which decreases the value of RB's not ranked in the top 5 significantly. LT and Westbrook are probably the most consistent, safe stud picks in the draft. Picking first, I'd go with LT every single time.

Further advice, especially for an 8 team league, is draft for quantity over quality. In nearly all of my drafts, I wait on team Defense until very late in the draft, and never take a kicker earlier than the final round. The difference between the #1 and #12 kicker in points last year was 17 points. That's a little over a point a week, hardly noticeable. The spread on defenses was a little higher, but probably still negligible in an 8 team draft. Tight Ends fall into the same category for me, as there are alot of sleeper TE's that can score you consistent points (Olsen, Schiffler, etc.). I always put alot of stock into RB, WR, and QB, because if you land a sleeper stud, having to pick between two great players is a fantastic problem to have. Then, once that trade deadline approaches, if you've made it through fairly injury free, You'll have awesome trade bait. Last season I picked first, took LT, and then the week before the deadline dealt him for Mac Jones-Drew and Derek Anderson. Dominated the playoffs and won the league.

Also, don't fall into runs. If you see 4 TE's or Defenses go off the board in a row, don't panic and think "Oh geez, I need to fill that position now too". 95% of the time I take the best player available, and then try to make a trade/waiver move to shore up the spots I'm weak in. Having depth at the 3 main scoring positions also comes in handy for early bye weeks, injuries, and shaping your roster up. You can't win the league in the draft, but you certainly can lose it. And on the topic of bye weeks, don't focus too hard on them. ESPN/Yahoo love to put that bye week number right in your face, goading you into passing on a player because he happens to have the same bye as another player of the same position already on your roster. One week does not make a season, and if you have to take a hit to have two studs for the other 14 weeks, do it!

Hope some of this helps, and if you have anymore questions feel free to ask. I'm very prepared and well versed in Fantasy Football knowledge haha.
