Game Guidelines?

I am with you Elemmire. Even if it's just the two of us that have to come up with our own set of standards I'd be down for that. Maybe we could eventually find others who are like-minded. Now you can kinda understand the frustrations that I had hinted to you earlier about the kinds of replies that these threads tend to get. It just seems that most people want to provide very little contructive discourse to the topic, but would rather instead tear down any attempt to make things better. Everyone is a comedian and loves to leave smart-ass comments and make themselves feel big instead of actually helping. But anyway, hopefully you'll be able to make more progress than I and /tell me anytime, I am always willing to find new ways to improve the FFXI experience.

hey El asked for suggestions and I offered a very real and honest one for a guideline. Im sorry if it didn't please the self appointed quetz queen El and her court Jester Valandil.

Here's a non-smartass comment for the self-righteuos Valandil:

Kiss my ass

As helpful, straightforward and not sarcastic as I can be...
What the fuck would you like me to do?

Well put.

well, ele has a point, if we dont act, our server will be more fucked up, even more then it already is, and i dont wanna sit round and watch it, but then agian.... im not really a leader, im a follower >.<

I'm not involved but i'm bored so heres my take.

~ Alliance members must use this board, or a locked board for alliance members only to coordinate HNM efforts.
~ Counter camping another Alliance party without 1 days prior notice posting on the board is frowned upon and members will be put up for review for expulsion from the alliance.
~ It is allowable to counter camp any non-alliance party at any time.
~ Treating other Allicance members with respect is a requirement to continue to be party to the Alliance.
~ Helping Alliance members who are victims of Grief Tactics is requried and members who fali to render aid are to be put up for review.
~ MPK, Grief Tactics or actions in violation of the POL player agreement is subject to expulsion from the Aliance. Stealing HNM is included as a violation. *and exemption to this would be an action voted on by leaders of linkshells in a 75% favor.

I was bored so there ya go~~~~~ 8)

Fighting over guidlines won't help too... o.o

>_> And Ele, my love, people aren't gonna comply with your attitude being standoff-ish like that. :) Serious? good. ^^ Try to play nicely withothers, because they may not actually know what your proposition is or what you are trying to look for.

Well...all I can say is good luck. If you want MORE frustration and LESS fun...go for it.

I am talking somewhat from personal experience. I used to play Socom iwth my husband. We posted regularly on the Playstation boards. We started having a lot of problems with people glitching (cheating) and teamkilling. We had discussions about it on the forums there DAILY. In response we figured we'd come up with a password system that would keep people from outside the boards out of our rooms. This password system had a set pw for each day of the week so it was easy for people to remember...unfortunately people were careless (would tell their friends in a public lobby what the pw was) or just plain assholes looking to ruin things for others.

We came up with another plan..A randomly generated pw. People would be screened prior to being given access to the private board where the pw was generated. We did this by Jury. I was a jury member. Individuals would "apply" to the jury...we would discuss it in a private area and either grant membership or deny it. We could also grant membership on a probationary basis.

So...we got it set up...most people were pleased with the new system but there was also a lot of grumbling from people about having to go through a process just to play a game with their friends. It only took a month or so for the problems to start. Someone gave out the pw. Someone accused so-n-so of cheating. That's when we (the jury members) became police...and you know what..It sucked!

While in a perfect world it would be wonderful if we could all agree on guidelines the fact is..

1. You can't get EVERYONE to participate (gonna cause problems with others thinking it's unfair that they have to abide by guidelins while they're being screwed over by a ls that's NOT in the alliance).

2. Some people will just plain go out of their way to screw it up. (Human nature)

3. You have NO way to enforce it. You can absolutely not give out any punishment with real teeth in it. And the only kind of punishment you COULD give out that would hurt them would be against YOUR guidelines.

You have a tough (read..impossible) road ahead of you. At least with socom we could make locked rooms to keep the cheaters and assholes out.)

I don't play Socom anymore...because going through that experience took ALL of the fun out of it for me.

When this game becomes a job instead of a "game" I'll be done with it too. Good luck.

Hmmmm, this thread had lots of pep out of the gates, but no stamina.
