56-58 pt

1. He didn't have ToA, so we decide to go Gustav Tunnel
2. WHM dc so we decide to go on as 5 doing fine as dd were killing quick.
3. We ask him to barfira because of bomb toss. He said he didn't have it because it was WHM job. Bear in mind he was subbing WHM so should have had it for the reason he just gave.
4. We get a link and we were killing second. What you reckon he decided to do next?

either
(a) keep a distance and support pt with heals / dots on mob?
(b) CURE IV himself and get killed 2 seconds later due to rampant hate?

yup.. he chose (b)

Then he hp's and disbands
I'd have not posted this if he didn't hp>disband

... just a heads up

You forgot to mention how much that nin in the party just sucked...

After he hp'd and disbanded i sent a /tell to the poor guy hoping to help him out, let him know to get his AF and get ALL of his spells. Surprisingly he didn't reply with the all too common statement "It's a game and I'll play how I want", but instead he did buy the spell(s) he was missing. Here's the good part though, He gave me the excuse that he expects it to be the WHM's job to barfira and main heal, and he could never be a main heal RDM as an elvaan because it's impossible to conserve his MP. The only way he parties as main heal is if he has 2 nin's. Something tells me he's going to have a hard time making it much farther in this game...
 
Why would he need TWO NIN tanks to be a mainheal? Unless one of the two NINs sucks outrageously, just one can tank anything fine...

Also, reasons 1 + 2 don't really seem like a reason to shoot the guy down, especially if he plays on PS2 (since they discontinued making ToAU CDs for the PS2 entirely...)

Though in regards to #2, both choices a and b are both dumb...he should've just slept the add.

Ah, I meant #4, sorry. Tired to hell, not been sleeping well recently. =\

Also, a RDM's ability to mainheal is dependant on what you're fighting anyhow. For example, if you think a RDM can mainheal a PLD in a party vs a mob that spams AOE abilities, you gotta be kidding if you think they can manage both that as well as buffs/debuffs. It's just not gonna happen.

Not shocked. I've encountered this guy in a nub LS, and helped him out a bit after Masterorion was going absolutley apeshit about the worst geared RDM he'd ever seen. I took a stab and asked if it was Shokrum, and of course it was. I pointed out his gear was shitty (really, really shitty) and why, then stocked him with some shitty decent gear. Nothing extravagant, some electrum rings, and a few MND/INT+ items, and further explained why those items were far superior to what he had, and what each item modifies. He seemed receptive to the advice, and my hope skill for this guy went up .1 point.

I stopped helping him when doing his AF Boots. I noticed he had me on auto-follow, anyone that knows me knows that fucking rubs me raw. We did all the prelim. shit and all he had to do was walk back into CN the next day and check the ???. Somehow he managed to get dead 3-4 times. I thought that would teach him a lesson about /follow, but Imdrunk helped him out with something and the /follow continued.

He's a nice guy, but a horrid player. I question a person who challenges my hands-on knowledge with what his Brady Guide says about a quest, then asks what INT does.....at49. He's part of the new WoW'esque crowd that is in a furious rush to get to 75 as if thats the crowning achievment of the game. It's really frustrating to see shit like the OP when I told the guy numerous times, "Get in the habit of hasting 4, refreshing 3, main healing, and never resting." Kinda sucks when an investment tanks on you (no pun intended)

Unfortunatlyzalt that is where her sleeping troubles come from since anytime me and her get near a bed, countertop, comfortable surface... well.. you know :spiteful:

Actually BedW you seem to have summed the guy up quite well. I think he's far from a lost cause, but choosing RDM as a job to be gimp on play/spells/gear is not the best of choices. Too many people rely on you. I found RDM the hardest of all the jobs I've levelled up. You can't be 'off the ball' in any way. If you are, you'll get noticed. If main healing is something he wants to avoid then choose something different to RDM.

Just something..

This forum/board is great for us sad people who have played for years, but we need an avenue on this board for new people to seek advice, ask questions about the basics of jobs and the game.
