That's right, Nintendo is 120 years old since September 23rd. Hard to believe right =D

They went from a small playing card company starting 1889, to become the biggest Giant in the gaming world today, as well as owning their own Baseball team!

So much can be said about Nintendo, that a person like myself cannot do any justice in words. Their name, and their employees, speak for how powerful the company truly is in our world. People like Shigeru Miyamoto, Gunpei Yokoi (RIP Father of GameBoy and Metroid), Satoshi Tajiri, they all have been made a part of our lives thanks to what they have done with this company. Without them and Nintendo, Gaming would probably have never recovered from the Great Crash of 1983.

So, here's to Nintendo and to the employees of Nintendo, past, present and future, and here's to another 120 years of success! Leave Luck to Heaven!

Happy Birthday Nintendo, Happy Birthday! =)

120 years old and still acting like a 10 year old...someone needs to grow the fuck up

Nintendo gave me the great Earthbound and for that, I'm very, very happy. Happy Birthday, Papa Bears. I need to play that game again, like, now.

If only 120 years of experience hadn't led to the crap they put out these days. It's unfortunate, it really is.

Nintendo isn't putting out any crap, almost all of their first-party games are top quality and sell very well. The shovelware is all third-party, and not a reflection of their company's performance.

They need to bring back that fucking seal of quality.

I beg to differ. Their is one good game Nintendo has put out on the Wii that wasn't on GC or brought over to the VC. That would be Super Paper Mario. I guess my idea of shovelware and yours is completely different seein' as I'd pit Mii games the holy grail of it. Third-party devs have done their fair share of garbage but Nintendo never played a factor into my decision to keep or sell my Wii.

Shovelware is games produced as fast as possible with little regard for appearance and usability; they aren't intended to sell well, but still generate a profit even with very poor sales figures because of how little money/time they took to produce. That's most(but definitely not all) of the third party titles.

The Nintendo Titles aren't shovel-ware since they're actually fully produced games that took more than 2 weeks to make. Their first party games(Smash brothers, Mario Galaxy, Zelda, Metroid Prime, Mario Kart, etc) are all great games. They might not be to your liking, but they are light-years apart from being shovel-ware. Just because you don't like the game doesn't mean it's shovelware.

I'd love it if they did that.

That's not shovelware, you described crap (not as in you didn't describe jack shit, but you literally described what people would call "crap" in a game).

No, they aren't shovelware for that reason and even some are actually shovelware. They aren't shovelware because they are not ported entities (all of them). Some titles, like Wii sports, Wii Resort (or whatever all those Mii games and the game that came with the controller pack), and -arguably- Wii Fitness could be noted, correctly, as shovelware depending on your view of the term "usefulness" and your view of quality over quantity. In the same vein you could also plausibly call Mario Party and Wario Ware to the stand as well.

No mention of the Mii games (which I heavily influenced my stamean on in the original explanation)? I know you're on of those gung-ho Nintendo heavy fellas, but spare me the eggshell tip-toeing argument that wont touch on things that would deteriorate your case despite them being quite readily visible. And back at you, Just because you like a game/company does not save it/them from the label of being/creating shovelware.

I don't intend to be harsh, but if your going to argue about the quality of some recent Nintendo titles, then please take that elsewhere for the time being.

This thread is meant to be a positive one where we can celebrate the birthday of the longest running Video Game console and software company of recent times since the rise from the crash of 1983. A place where we can maybe share fond memories of Nintendo and positively speculate the future of the company.

In other words, No bashing in this thread. I'd like us to be positive and respectful here, not too much to ask right?

Yes, Thank you Nintendo for bringing us Rob the Robot and the Virtual Boy. Ice Hockey was awesome though :).

Paper Mario and the thousand year door was the pinnacle of Nintendo. Its a shame that they have fallen so far.

Super Paper Mario was an interesting change, but i hope they go back to RPG.

Happy Belated Birthday. I'm glad they brought my Sony-loving-ass some Zelda to mix it up.
