Movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Spoiler:
When Ron destroyed the locket, he said the good news was that there were only 3 to go. Perhaps they changed the nnumber for the movies?

Spoiler:
Can someone explain to me just how the hell the sword ended up where it did? (I haven't read the books and the movie didn't explain squat!

Spoiler:
They didn't change it, they only think there's six.
Don't click if you don't want to be spoiled
Spoiler:
Harry himself is the seventh, which you don't find out until later, and when he is killed and it severs the link between him and Voldemort, is that soul fragment destroyed.

Can't quite remember about the sword, I think Dumbledore knew they were going to be there and left it there, he was the last one with it.
Everything begins and ends with Albus Dumbledore.

Spoiler:
In the book there are 7, but the last one is Harry: The diary, the ring, the locket, the cup, the diadem, the snake, and Harry himself (which is why Harry later has to go to Voldemort to "die" before he can actually kill him). Only thing I can think of is that in the movie, Harry hasn't realized his part yet, as I think he had to kind of come to that in the book on his own as well, so Ron wouldn't know yet either.

Remember Harry, Ron and Hermione discuss whose patronus it was that led Harry to the sword? In the book, (and I suppose it'll come up later in the movie) Harry later finds out that the silver doe is Snape's patronus. Snape is a good guy, and he is helping Harry the only way he can. He is now Headmaster of Hogwarts, so he would have access to assure that Harry got the sword, but to keep up the ruse of being Voldemort's right hand man, he had to get it to Harry indirectly.

The movie was great. I only have a couple of complaints:

Spoiler:

1) They never explained the jinx on Voldemort's name.

2) The ending of the movie. While it was a great way to end part one of the movies, it doesn't really work so well with the book. In the book, there was a huge emphasis on Harry knowing where the Elder wand was and making a choice between the Deathly Hallows and Horcruxes. In the movie Voldemort simply got to the Elder wand without Harry seemingly having any knowledge of it.

Spoiler:
this plus the fact that the jinx on Voldemorts name was the reason the three were captured by the snatchers in the first place...also they never showed dudley giving harry a hug in the beginning either, that was a big part in the beginning.

other then that i think they were pretty close to the movie, i enjoyed the hell out of it

you're on the money but just a hairline off. i remember J.K. saying voldy did not intend to to make 7 horcruxes, per say, just to split his soul into 7 pieces. 6 horcruxes with the 7th piece of his soul still in his body. he intended to use harry's death as the murder for the 6th, but when the curse failed to kill him he made harry a living horcrux by accident. not knowing this and still thinking he only had 5 he made Nagini a horcrux too (i think bertha's death was used for that one). so he actually split his soul into 8 pieces total. :P silly dark wizards always dooming themselves with their own mistakes.

to cheer me up my mother took me to see the film last night and I was very impressed. i had no real issues with the bits they removed and it didn't feel rushed. Nagini scared the crap out of my mom tho. i forgot to warn her about the snake.

As a further explanation of the horcruxes:

Spoiler:
Harry becomes aware that he is one of Voldemort's horcruxes following the death of Snape at the hands of Nagini. Snape gives Harry his memories, which he views in Dumbledore's pensieve. These memories reveal Snapes true motives, the real reason for Dumbledore's death and Dumbledore's suspicions that Harry is indeed a Horcrux. With this revelation, Harry resigns himself to the fact that he must die in order for Voldemort to be defeated and thus enters the Forbidden Forest where Voldemort casts a Killing Curse on him. All this time, Voldemort was unaware that Harry was one of his Horcruxes, which explains why he would want to kill him in the first place. However, the reason Harry lived is because his blood was used in Voldemort's ressurection ritual, and his blood is protected by Lily's sacrifice. So while the Horcrux resting with Harry was destroyed, he could not die as the blood within Voldemort kept him tethered to this world.

Following this, the Elder Wand acknowledged Harry's acceptance of his own mortality and chose him as the rightful owner, which is why Voldemort couldn't use it to harm him.

I am so lost on Harry Potter. The last movie I saw they were putting some baby man in a cauldron @_@

Spoiler:
the wand thing isn't so complicated, lol. it simply obeys the last person to defeat/disarm its last master. Big D got the wand when he beat gregorvich. Draco won its loyalty by dissarming Big D. and harry won its loyalty by disarming draco. It had nothing to do with his connection to voldy. what did have something to do with their connection was their twin wands.

I can't help but call Dumbledore "Big D" now.

Thanks Zaltana. Thanks alot. xD

We're getting into solid nerd-dom here, but...

Spoiler:
The whole point of the horcrux was to split his soul and preserve it safely elsewhere (outside his own body) so Voldemort himself was never a horcrux - there were never eight, there were seven. Of course he didn't know Harry was one or the book would've gone way differently. I wasn't saying Voldemort set out to make seven, just that there were seven and that at the time it's addressed in the movie, neither Ron nor Harry knew that Harry was the seventh.

I kind of liked that it was his own arrogance that did him in. Definitely like a lot of "powers" in the world - so busy to prove they are the one running the show that they don't see what's coming for them until it's already over.

counter nerd-dom for Zyn. :-P
Spoiler:
ah but i never said he made 8 horcruxes, i said he split his soul into 8 pieces. Rowling mentioned that he wanted to make 6 of them leaving his main, but fragmented, piece within his body. even BIG D mentioned that tidbit to harry. harry was an accidental horcrux. SO THERE!!!!!!! gotta remember proper nomenclature my dear. :P
