TV HBO orders "A Song of Fire and Ice" Pilot!

There's a blog dedicated to rumors, speculation, and actual hard info regarding the HBO pilot at http://winter-is-coming.blogspot.com/.

One thing that has been confirmed by Weiss and Benioff is the first and last lines of the pilot script. It begins with "We should turn back" and ends at "The things I do for love". Should be pretty epic.

Sweet! This is the first i've heard of that. A T.V. series of it sounds awesome, If i trust any network to do it right i guess itd be HBO to.

I loved that book series, and im still waiting on the last one. Theres supposed to be another book coming out isn't there, after A Feast for Crows? A Dance of Dragons, or something like that? Its been so long I've almost lost hope that another ones coming.

3 more books, least that's what George R.R. Martin's site lists.

There's "A Dance with Dragons" which is supposed to be out sometime this year (of course it was supposed to be out sometime in 2008...), followed by "The Winds of Winter', which in turn is followed by "A Dream of Spring".

I'd be shocked if he finished the series before he passes away. Right now, it takes him over 5 years per book.

After "Dance With Dragons" which still has no release date, he still has two more books. Looking at 10 years.....wow.

It'll be out in 2009, and the guy is only 60, he should have plenty of years left.

Granted Robert Jordan died younger at 58, but he was diagnosed with cardiac amyloidosis which gave him a life expectancy of 4~ years. And even then his final book is getting penned by another author with the plot, story, characters, everything given to Robert Jordan's family and publisher in case something like that happened.

I don't think George R.R. Martin has been diagnosed with anything, and I hope he won't be.

He doesn't look very healthy though.

Neither do a lot of people who make it to 80+, guess we'll see as time goes on.

The fan favorite for Tyrion right now is Peter Dinklage. But since he just got picked up for the next Narnia movie I dunno if he'll be available. :/

i know this is a necro, but its coming out soon, so i figured it was relevant agian. Anyone heard much else about it? I read that the guy who played ronin on stargate: Alantis is going to be playing drogo.

I'm getting pretty psyched, I've heard talk of a sword of truth tv miniseries as well, but imo "A song of fire and ice" is a MUCH better series.
