Hmmmm, Sony is getting sued.

I'm guessing sony is going to tie this up in appeals until either the ps3 is out with new controllers, or the company srops the suit/goes backrupt... thats usually what happens in these things... thats why im not going into business...

-Ham

arg... what the fuck? what's this lawsuit about exactly? did Sony steal something from someone? or the vibrationin a controller a bad thing? >.> blah....

that company isn't going bankrupt any time soon.

Sony's been order to pay them $90.7 mil

Microsoft also had to pay into the company.

Here's another little article on it here

Let's not make any assumptions here, people.
Please allow Thorr to chime in and we will know the future of the world for the next 17 years, as if it already occurred. I'm sure Sony will be ok, but he'll let us know for sure.

lmfao, why soooooo long after the initial development? WTF lmao

Why dont' you read the articles before you ask the quesiton? The lawsuit was filed in 2002. And for the record, I don't believe PS1 had the force feedback technology, so it woudn't have been an issue until PS2.

if you didnt notice, I was talkin about why this was brought up now instead of back then...especially on the forums dont act like u know everything :P

Wow revolutionary idea guys. Make the controller DO SOMETHING! I swear, patents on some shit is just ridiculous. Course, if I had an easy way to make 90 million, I suppose Id take it too ^^. Ive never heard of this company, why should they be allowed to have a patent on something when they cant even make the product eh?!

Fae

PS1 does have it, according to my FF9 case it did at least.

Immersion Corp. has been around for a while now. I remember buying a Logitech Mouse that had Immersion technology in it, and it would vibrate when you hovered over a link or other things inside of Windows.

As for the lawsuit, I'm sure there could have been another way to settle this dispute, but people are sue happy around here nowadays.
