I'm Olo(rinus),
I'm a middling sort of forever lowbie on Pheonix server. I don't play hard to leveling high... I experimented with lots of jobs before settling on the type of player I wanted to be this time around, finally settling on blu/whm -- (support, minor dd). My first main, when I played back waaaaay back when... when ffxi was only on PC... was BLM (tarutaru!)... but in this incarnation my first main was whm (tarutaru!)... after getting whm to my teles I played around with every job except drk mnk pup sch dnc and cor getting them between 10-20... just to get a feel for the sort of player I want to be on my first main, to 75.
After playing a grueling 37 levels of whm, I decided that being a whm was just not exciting enough to exp, and the spell costs were getting me down, especially since a tarutaru whm/thf is pretty crappy for farming with, even in a party type situation.... so it seemed like the job was as high as it was going to get... usefulness-wise for the current time, at least until I forgot the horrors of being main healer in valkurm with no sub... and until I had a job that could farm without more-than-necessary agony.
So.... began the saga of Olo soloing, farming, dunes ptying for a few months... messing around, pling friends, questing, unlocking jobs, fiddling with jobs, amassing reams of silly equipment... and deciding what to be...
So yeah, I've finally decided to main blu/whm... because I DO like being a healer... and I like soloing (this job combo makes an excellent soloer**and duoer**... I speak from experience... as I soloed/duoed most of my way to 28 before I got more than a level here or there with a party-- partially because dunes parties are not worth it to a blu/whm -- who can easily solo/duo better exp per hour than a typical dunes party without a PL and sometimes, even with a PL-- and partially because there is a bias against /whm as a sub, it seems... in the Qufim levels)
I don't care what the naysayers say... I've played /whm and /thf and /whm is overall more fun to play (for me) and, I feel, a more versatile party member. I just got Wild Carrot... and I am excited to be a more effective backup healer....
anyway... blah. I can't wait to argue with everyone who will inform me that I ought to sub freaking /nin --
