the one thing that definitley makes the PC ver. better than the PS2 ver. is we can easily capture video and screenshots.

Ummmm yeah. PS2 can capture screenshots just as easy. And Keits? The platform that you play on has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with what type of player you are. I have BOTH versions. The graphics are slightly better on PC, but I actually prefer the PS2 version for 2 reasons:

1) I agree with Asia, the lag is just better on PS2. I've only ever gotten disconnected ONCE on the PS2. Ask those members of your party who keep getting D/c'd what they are using. 9/10 times Ill bet the answer is a PC.

2) I like the PS2 version because I can sit my happy butt down on a comfortable couch in front of a 65" theatre wide-screen TV to play. Dunno about you, but for me this is SO much more relaxing than playing at my computer desk.

Hahaha, thats definitely 1 of the upsides.

Im a ps2 player.

Why i didn't get the PC version?

I originally got the HDD for Resident Evil: Outbreak and Socom II. (Both currently are picking up dust)

Why i don't want to switch?

My PC was meant for CS and studies.. So while i'm LFP in my Jeuno MH, i'm pking people w/ an M4 or some other gun. :D

Damned straight for the ps2!
Sure, the graphics arent as good, but ps2 users are used to this. My computer can hack ffxi, but I, if I'm gonna be sitting somewhere for hours, prefer to do it in a more comfortable chair in front of a much larger screen. I COULD hook my computer into my HD tv yadda yadda yadda. Inconvenient.
I have been dropped twice total on ps2. Ps2 doesn't have viruses, or pop-ups, or all manner of crap that causes dropping on pc.

w/e

it dosnt matter if u play on a ps2 or pc. what dose matter is if u know how to play :D

I'd say a good thing about the PS2 Version is that you can start with a Controler and din't have to buy one like poor me 8(. The Graphics would kill me though ...

PS2 version is more stable lag-wise

Hrm.. it depends on your pc really. To be honest, if your getting lag and you have a high speed connection. Its not the connection, its your pc's prossessor. I started out playing FFXI on the "Family" PC, it quite frankly sucks, but it was good enough to run the game. Probably looked like the PS2 version, but thats all it could handle. I got lag like crazy in highly populated party spots like Yutunga, Yhoator as well as Crawlers Nest and I use a pretty solid DSL connection.

I now have my own kick ass pc with a much much much faster processor than the "family pc". I use the same connection via a router and I have been to all those areas again, and this time after the ps2 release (so you know they were packed with noobs) and I havent gotten lag untill rececently and even now (crawlers nest, when its packed) its only slightly noticable. The lag i get is in like a one second spike then its gone and will come back every so often. Mind you this is only so far been in a packed Crawler's Nest, everywhere else i get 0 lag, even in jueno. Granted even with my processor it still takes a bit to load completely everyone who is in Lower Jeuno's AH. That place is unreal lol.

absolutely true....a few years ago i built my pc with average stuff that would run most games well. now that ffxi came out my pc was just above borderline with a 1.2g processor with 768mb sdram and a 128 gforce vid card and it ran good without weather effects on and minimal stuff going on in game. since upgrading to a motherboard that is of 400 fsb with a 3.8g proc, 512 ddr, and the 128 vid card.....hell of alot better and run at alot better resolution than you could ever get with ps2. and is proven by my friend who also plays with both systems and regularly brings his sytem to my house.

The thing about this game on the PC is were paying for the shitty PS2 graphics system. Basically were running emulated ps2s running FFXI. The PC version should be so much superior its not funny. But then all the ps2 ppl would be at a disadvantage...

Mmmmm real textures, draw distance, more on screen objects, better models...

The only real thing the pc version can do is jack up AF to 16 and this eliminates blurry ass textures at far distances...oh well...sure we can increase the rez but thats not as impressive as it should be :(

Remember when you created your character and the models were higher quality, thats how it should look in the pc version all the time ; ;

my friend got the PS2 ver. because his computer kept catching viruses(he has to have his anti-virus off or he will lag like hell), and the graphics weren't that bad, there was little difference in the graphics, and if you think there is a huge difference, then your really anal about graphics...
And it shouldn't matter what your on, you think that Japanese players rock, i had a japanese PLD/WAR in my party once who didn't voke, we had to tell them to provoke.

You know lots of PS2 players that could level quick and beat the crap out of PC players?

Sounds like penis envy to me.
Wait, so you're saying that if someone buys the pc version of the game today, and only has lvl 1 jobs, I, a lvl 32 BLM/16 WHM, couldn't kick their ass? (if there was pvp in this game)

Sounds like being a dumbass to me.

Personally, it's not what you play, it's how you play.

I'm a PC player, because after 2 years of Everquest, I couldn't even dream of playing an MMORPG on the PS2.

Plus, I have a very good PC, very good internet connection, and didn't want to spend the money on the PS2 harddrive/keyboard. Not when I'd just be using the keyboard instead of the controller instead.

/em wrinkles nose.

If you play well, you play well. If you suck, you suck. Your platform has nothing to do with this.

oh...wait....this is the flameboard...hm...

YOU UTTER ASSHAT! XD
