Ideas for constructive feedback

I have a problem with hearing mods who are quality players and good people be criticized again and again like they are the fundamental problem on this site. I find it irritating and not constructive to be having the same said discussion in a different thread when the administration supposedly considered the matter closed. Being civil doesn't diminish the fact that you're still being pretty insulting to them.

I'm going to echo others' sentiments that the mods have been doing a fine job, and that the site is not the fluff-filled sinking ship that some are making it out to be. There is a lot of positive on this site, and while there's nothing wrong with having a vision of what you want, I think you're trying to gut some of what's good too. And while I respect your right to your opinion, I express my right to disagree with that.

Zyn,
I'm not criticizing, nor being insulting. I'm stating my opinion of them, and the selection process that happened. Morwen's a great person, but as I've stated 3 x's now, this is my favorite part of the forum, and I don't feel she is qualified. If they feel insulted by what I'm saying now, then they're taking things too personally. Do you feel bad when you get looked over for a job interview? Sure. Should you take it personally and think the person who interviewed you hates you? No.

It's my opinion, and yes you are able to disagree. But again, I'm not doing anything derogatory, I'm not insulting them, I'm merely commenting after Miros and my long discussion about things that after his explanation, the problem still exists.

If this was about the Lounge, I could care less. I wouldn't complain, just how I haven't complained about quite a few things I disagree with.

Going back to the moderator position. I implore anybody who does not see any moderator fit to do the job on the forum they were assigned to post here with valid reasons. This is not confrontational, this is an honest proposition. If there is going to be serious debate, there needs to be serious interest and valid reasons to go against said person.

Its been my experience on other forums that the best moderators are more often than not the ones chosen by the current staff/admins. They see members that show good potentual.

Some people apply wanting to genuinely help others too but a few seem to have a want, a desire to be in a position of power on a forum, those final types often turn out to be unsuitable for such a position.

It appears that there are no further comments on the original subject of better communication and constructive feedback so I am going to lock this thread while the staff and idea discuss the ideas and points presented.

In regards to the discussion over moderators, it made me think back (I been running forums since late 2000) and there are a shit load of people that were well respected and valued members of the community who never made it to the staff. Most of them would've done a fucking great job at it too. Why they were or werent selected may had more to do with circumstances than the person and I hope no one here takes any staffing decisions personally.

More important the mods and the admins are the members because you ARE the site. Each and every member contributes to the whole and adds to the experience, whether its an in-joke or end game advice. If anything you get to enjoy the site more because you dont have to ensure everything is running smoothly behind the scenes so you dont have to stress.

Anyway, thats a small observation I've made over the years both as an admin and as a member of other communities.

Thank you :)
