News: Manga Publishers now uniting to stop scanlation sites.

Ugh, Onemanga.com was one of the number 1 places I went to read. There's others, but I hope they all don't die or that's it for manga for me. English translations released here are far behind the Japanese.

For me, good or bad, I'm very happy with my collection of nearly 600 manga. As for reading manga online, I do hope that these publishers put forth a service much like crunchyroll for viewing manga, or at the very least they should start releasing manga on something like Amazon's Kindle or the iPad. I know it can be done as Marvel/IDW/Disney/Archie have been releasing comics on the PSP's Comic Reader App (Which they offer some free issues for as well), and I know it's being done for manga on this service in Japan.
If they had a crunchyroll style manga website, where I could read all the manga that I'm following, with weekly updates and decent translations, I'd be all over that service. The problem is that this change is going to harm more than help any official publishers. Since now I(and probably a lot of other people) am not going to have any previous access to a series so I'm not going to want to potentially waste money on buying it and I don't know where to get most of the series that aren't as popular as something like Naruto.

They definitely need to go to some kind of online publishing model with a small monthly subscription like crunchyroll, I'll easily fork over $10 a month(which is more than crunchyroll) if they're going to carry the 49 series that I'm currently following. If they don't, I'm probably going to have to give up on manga for the most part, since I won't have a way to obtain most of the series that I'm reading, legitimate or not. That's also going to cut down on the amount I'll spend on any anime or anime merchandise, as I almost always pick up anime's that I have enjoyed the manga.

No onemanga.com blows, now I'll have to find the individual sites that publish the translations and follow each of them separately.

Crap, with OneManga going down I won't be able to keep up on One Piece >_<

the power of google and the determined reader= one happy individual had to do that with claymore and berserk during onemanga's first nerf potshot. just means i have to put effort into other anime as well which tbh most people dont put a lot of effort into a lot of things and take the path of least resistance

Huh, I kinda used OneManga, and I'm too lazy to look for another site.
Guess I'll just not read at all.

They'll rename and be back most likely. Problem is they'll want to be quiet while this is goin' on so you'll probably have to lurk around the forums to find anything out.

I just went through most of the series that I'm reading and tried to track down the scanslation sites; just get my fix directly from the source, if you will.

Yay for censored localizations and a horribly small catalog that's months behind?
If this shapes up to be anything like what they've done for online distribution of anime then they're still not going to displace fan translations. Until the official releases can match the volume, quality, speed and stop localizing things in such an awkward manner, then I don't see the underground releases dying off.
