...so I'm on a router...using high speed cable.

So what exactly am I supposed to change to make my router 'open' so I can connect to people online? I've searched this on the xbox forums and other websites and nobody seems to give me something to work with. I've tried a lot of different tactics and none of them are fixing the problem. But it's definitely an issue with MY connection as these people can connect perfectly to others while I'm always the guy nobody can connect with.

So...anyone have any suggestions?

The issue is going to be your NAT settings. There are a million temp solutions...

Please save yourself some trouble and configure your router. I do not know how to do this at all. I called the service number on my router and had them walk me through it.

I believe Chasym here on these forums can explain in great detail how to configure the router the same way your service call will instruct you. Send him a PM?

Google it, but in short, if you dont have OpenDNS and your host doesnt, you can have the possibility to not connect.

Opendns.com has all your info.

Now, if your DNS is open and your host isnt and you STILL cant connect, you may need to DMZ your Xbox 360.

Example: On my Belkin router, go to 192.168.2.1 on my web browser, opens up the routers config. Theres a handy link that says DMZ on the left, click that. Has an option to DMZ an IP address. (Mine has 192.168.x.x default, since computers and such use 192.168 defautly.) On your Xbox360 go to network config and see that odds are your is 192.168.0.2, so just fill in the IP address on your router and apply changes. Fixed it in a sinch.

Heres the thing with DMZ, it opens all the ports to any information. Thus, a hacker could get into whatever is DMZed and hack your shit. Heres the good thing, no one does that to Xbox360, its more of a threat to computers.
