Problem regarding the private message feature

I recieved an email informing me that I had a new private message, but when I got to the board to check it, I dont have any messages. Is there something blocking me from checking this, or was this email in error?

I'm pretty sure a person can cancel a PM before you read it, by accessing the outbox I think theres an option to unsend a PM. Chances are someone made a mistake and perhaps cancelled the PM before you read it.
