Ok. I love drg but here lately I've just gotten, i dunno, bored with my whole situation. I've decided to level a couple of other jobs such as whm and blm for my LS static and thf for farming purposes. I'm just curious if anyone else has gone through this experience and if so, was it for the better? Anyway, it's almost 4:30am and i think i'm finally getting sleepy  Insomnia is a bitch

Im sure just about everyone hits this stage. I have many times. Which is why im just NOW hitting 50+. I have lots of jobs leveled to a decent amount, and two over 40. Jumping around to what makes you feel good at the time is what a GAME is for ^^. Dont worry, youll get back to your dragoon loving self.

I stopped WAR for a while, but only because I had to work on NIN as a sub for a while. I do stop playing as my main at times and level other jobs, just for fun.

Yeah you'll find yourself doing this a lot. Mostly to support your Main job or one of your secondary jobs. I.e. I wanted Drk/Thf, so I lvled Thf. But to boost thf, I started doing NIN :D

I have hit that stage at many points in my FFXI career. Currently my DRK is 55, and pretty much has been that level for almost 3 months now. I took about a month off because I was tired of the game, and then when I came back, I decidde I loved playing NIN, so I am leveling that. I also am leveling THF so that I can sub it to my DRK, but I am considering leveling THF to higher levels because it is fun.

Like somebody above said, I think we all hit a point when we want something different, add a little spice so to speak.

i'm sure most of us have... did you switch because the lack on invites or the length of getting one? anyhow, i stopped leveling my RDM @ 33 when i couldn't afford spells such as Dispel and such, so i switched to PLD. but that was a long time ago and i eventually went back to my first and sorta "main" job.^^

So many times I got hit by this kind of thing during my entire FFXI career. Shiia is actually my 3rd character. First one was an elvaan. Well not even knowing left and right and have been chosen to start as a blm starting in bastok (hey... in EQ the high elves were almost best spell casters -_-;). Then I noticed I haven't been doing well. I mean, I never saw a muscle type elvaan who are good melees instead of mages.

So I swapped to elvaan starting in windrust. Well eehh... thought the nation changed your stats. Again I failed being a good mage of lack of mp around lvl 15ish. That was 3 month after I started playing. Shiia was born next. Having told humes were good in all jobs but not being the best, I wanted to try everything and every job which is why I chose a hume for my 3rd character.

I played around as war for a bit. I hit 11 solo, with couple of small groups in between. My serious grouping was around 12. I was the tank in the group. I knew already about the macro use, provoking every 30sec stuff. But soon after hit 15, I saw the huge lack of whms. So I decided to turn into a whm.

My next target was pld. So I quickly became lvl 30 as whm and swapped to pld. I played alot and reached 27. This is the time when I noticed I cannot solo jack past certain point in this game. They simply hit too hard, and I hit too low. After meeting with 2 friend of mine who are currently in my ls, told me rdm were good in getting group, and able to solo smooth. So yet again, I swapped. I hopped till 70 pretty quick, it was around lvl 50ish when my best friend Punitan started to play. After 9 defeats with maat (8 pre patch), I just got sick of rdm. Party invites were constant yet I was unable to get through genkai5. So I swapped to mnk for a change. A melee dedicated job. It was a big change. And I saw many fellow rdms during the course, and noted down what they did good, what they did bad etc. Soon after I hit 68, Punitan was already reaching the high 60s. So I though what the hell, I will try beating that old bastard for once. And I beat him after the patch (BIG CHANGE). My monk and rdm both hitted 72 and 74, punitan started leveling summoner after he aquired fenrir (as 71 whm).

After a while of thinking what would be fun for me, I still had my Wizard memories back in EQ. The ultimate elemental user, and big boom user. So I ended up leveling my rusted blm who was on hold at 37. Ever since it was my first job to level till 75.

Long story short, trying alot of jobs is interesting, and fun. Also you will comprehend more about your current, last, future jobs while observing the performance of the others wether they are good or bad. I am now working for 75 on both rdm and monk once I get my funds again. Punitan is now working for brd after he achieved his lvl 70 goal as a summoner. But probably will continue summoner whm and bard till 75.

If you were a melee job, try a mage job. If not try something which was different from your current role like a tank, healer, nuker, supporter for a change. You might see the light in some questions you had before.

Yah, I'm in that gray area right now... I'd love to level Coeurl's RNG to L50, but it's starting to hurt me financially. So I'm thinking of dusting off good ol' Flaru and get my Tarutaru toosh up to BLM18-WHM37-BST75, while enjoying the sights and fishing spots along the way.

Yeah I got a little tired of doing thief.. SO I took a mule out and started leveling that. I wanted a mithra to screw around with. Now I want to get it to rank 10 if possible before I level it.

neither, surprisingly enough. invites were actually pretty common. i just got bored of "hit, hit, hit, jump, high jump, hit, etc"

Yep, i've pretty much been doing this too lately. Ever since I finished Genkai 1 and got some exp into lvl 50 I decided that was as good a time as ever to start leveling Thf for an additional sub. So.. i leveled Thf to 10, then had to start leveling ninja for a thf sub. Now that I have gone the Thf/Nin route I almost cant fathom why some people are out there with Thf using a War or Mnk sub. My only guess would be that they're new to the game still and havent unlocked any advanced jobs. **ADDED** But when I see a rank 4-5+ person not using a /nin or /rng sub on Thf I begin to wonder about thier legit-ness.(like, they may be a purchased account)

Now even while lvling Nin for Thf, I felt I did a really great job of tanking from 12-20, I got the hang of blink tanking pretty much durring my lvl 12-13 run and I have to say, its not that hard. Realized pretty much after the third time(of using Utsisemi) that I was always going to make sure a second person in the party who could provoke. But now in Qufim as a Thf, well there are ninja's who still can't blink tank right.. dont have the timing down yet or anything. It makes me mad, just like when a warrior at lvl 20+ doesnt have a provoke macro, or just doesnt provoke soon enough.. OoOOoo that stuff gets on my nerves. You'd think they'd learn to do their job by then. Heck almost every party I joined in the dunes had a PLer helping them, some just made a good party I was in even better, others were the only thing holding the party together aside from myself. What I dont get is even though I may have had a PL'er I still took the time to realize how to function with the job I was on.

It was kind of funny, because when I was tanking as nin/war in the dunes, some of the PL parties I came into were like "You dont have to tank as good, we have PL". I just kinda laughed, I got a few of those messages.
PL or not, I didnt see any need to not do my job as a tank.

Oops, kinda got way off subject, so im bringing it back. Yeah, im taking a break from Drk till i get Thf to lvl 37 or even 40 for the heck of it (I just like a nice even number) I can't wait to get back to Drk, but Thf/Nin is pretty damn fun. If/when I finally get lvl 75 Drk I think I'll go work on Thf next, its pretty fun so far.

Yeah, I know what you mean. So many just shoot for lvl in the game, but there are others. Like, there's a person in my LS who's had the game for at least 2 months now. S/he doens't even have a subjob yet (close, but not quite) but really knows their stuff (even surprised me when his insight today, though I can't for the life of me remember why haha). Even starting crafting already, which is something I regret not having done.

We all hit points in the game where we get tired of one thing or another, I think, and it helps to do something different just to break the pattern. I have so much I want to doright now, for instance. Take BLM all the way, lvl SMN and NIN some, work on Alchemy, etc. All that requires gil, though, and it's really starting to burn me out (recently passed 1mil for lvl 65 alone). Ah, well. Maybe I'll lvl some tomarrow. Or maybe do the remaining avatar fights. That sounds like fun.
I think you just have to find what, for you, is fun in FFXI and chase it down.

I've started levelling crafts in order to counteract my boredom and aggrevation with my pld/war. I went to 15 with ninja to sub for my warrior that's currently lvl 25 and now I've become so fed up with the current kazham population that I decided its just not worth it. I've been through 3 parties and I'm still level 25, thats just not right. So I started levelling ranger and several different crafts (goldsmithing is currently on hold at 35, cooking at 55). Also in the process of attempting to make some money (HA!). Anyways, just wanted to tell you that I'm experiencing the same thing.

Meh, I play this game to be my dark knight. I just dont find any other jobs anywhere near as much fun >< But soon(once i hit 60) i gotta take a break and lvl my subs(war and thf) and the sub of my subs(nin). Its gonna be a boring week or two >.>
