The animals are striking back against their abusive owners! Roosters are mean so it doesn't surprise me that the rooster would have cut someone especially if they were trying to get it irritated so it would fight another rooster. Their natural spurs are pretty sharp themselves but putting a knife on one doesn't seem like it worked out too well for this guy.
It is one of those stories that makes you re-read the headline five times. Call it vigilante justice — a rooster stabbed a man to death at an illegal cockfight in California on Jan. 30, according to the Bakersfield Californian newspaper. And you thought the fox who shot a hunter in Belarus was as weird as it could get. Think again.
The roosters at cockfights are outfitted with sharp knives attached to their legs, usually fighting to the death in a tight ring. The circumstances leading up to the stabbing are not clear, but at some point, 35-year-old José Luis Ochoa suffered a deep knife wound in his right calf caused by one of the birds involved in the fight. He died two hours later in hospital.
As one of the law enforcement officials pointed out — that particular area of the leg is home to major arteries, which means there would be substantial blood loss if not treated immediately. So why the delay? Because the cockfight was crashed by sheriff’s deputies. Ochoa fled, along with the rest of the participants.
Five dead roosters were found at the scene, but no arrests have been made.
Besides that whole “jail” thing, looks like Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was lucky to come out unscathed when he was arrested on federal dog fighting charges in 2007.
