I was just wondering about the use of 3rd eye and the utsu.

In parties I've noticed a SMN would send out shiva and do ariel armor (or their version of blink). Sorry if I got it wrong. I'm not a SMN.
Then I used Third Eye and it cancelled out the SMN's buff. I quickly learned to hold my Third Eye until the SMN's buff wore off.

Given the SMN example, I make the assumption that Third Eye will cancel the shadows of Utsu. Those of you who know what a pain it is to re-up your shadows while getting hit MIGHT want to try this as a sam...

I'm thinking of testing the following: Put up utsu and start a fight.
When the third shadow is gone, throw up Third Eye to take the fourth hit.
While you have the brief window that Third Eye gives, cast another Utsu.


The mob WILL miss with Third Eye.

The golden question: "Will that miss still interrupt casting?"



I have no uses for sam/nin but I have both and if I get bored I might try and see what happens.

wow, it worked beautifully.
I tested two separate things last night...

1) utsu > utsu depleted > 3rd eye, cast utsu > YAY it worked!
2) new Kaman+1 bow and sleep arrows macro YAY it worked!
.........here comes ballista 60 soon..............

Of course, you -could- just count shadows as they're destroyed. What I do as a NIN:

-At the end of a fight, cast Utsu: Ichi as soon as it's ready, unless there's going to be extended downtime
-After the puller gets a mob, I 'voke and watch the chat log to see when the shadows are destroyed
-After 2 of my shadows are gone, I hit my Utsu: Ichi macro to recast Utsusemi. Chances are the mob will attack and destroy my final shadow before I finish casting it again, but they probably won't attack again and interrupt my casting until after I'm done.

Of course, when mobs start getting Double Attack, it'll probably be a bit harder to judge this (one double attack while I'm recasting will throw me off), but it does the same thing as your proposed SAM/NIN.
