I had tried to forget why I dislike the dunes, but it all comes back within 2 minutes of being there again.

I'm sure the people I partied with ARE good people, but you should never just take what you can get to form a party. I knew I should have disbanded as soon as it was formed, so I blame myself.

no whm, just WHM subs. very bad idea. My poor wyvern was slaugtered in the second fight, and people started dropping. I think the only reason I lived was cause I had WHM subed.

anyways, guess this is just another I dislike the Dunes post, I wonder how many of those are on this site. XD

Also thank you to the WHM that was slaughtering gobs so I didnt get agro and die. <3

But if you're playing as DRG/WHM you're not exactly helping the problem. With that job combination you probably will end up in more 'take what you can get' parties--I don't think anyone who knows what they're doing in forming a party would invite a DRG/WHM.

Yes I can see where a few people would not agree with that choice of a sub class, but I've seen it done, and done pretty well. Also since The only classes I have that could support it are White mage or black mage, DRG is really my first real in combat class. [ acutally getting to use weapons in fights and such] I just always see DRGS with WAR sub, and while its awesome, it just wasnt really for me. I'll try to take what you said as not an insult, and try to do better.

DRG/WHM isnt so bad, just tell the WHM or RDM not to heal you unless your in your reds, because once you WS you will be healed back, i think thats pretty good, less MP WHM has to waste, also good after bomb drops then you double thrust to kill it and get healed, then use some of the HP you got back to heal wyvern then WHM curaga's, and it will work perfect =D

Thats kinda how I was looking at it, but we didnt have a WHM. Being a mage with my other classes I know how it can be when people dont want to let the mages get thier MP back a decent amount before the next fight. I thought I was going em a favor ^^; Plus, I never liked WAR, so I didnt want to have an underleveled sub class. I think we had a RDM but the person was subbing it. Plus we only had one WAR, so one person had provoke, I droped some cures on myself to get the monster off the other mages. I'm hopeful in having a better time next time I party there though. ^^

I don't know how the numbers for DRG/WHM shake out so I can't speak to its usefullness to a PT (though honestly my gut feeling about it isn't good), but my point is this: say you're someone who has some idea as to what you're doing and you're trying to put together a PT in Valkurm. You've got most of it set up and need one or two more melees: you can choose between, say, a WAR/MNK, a NIN/WAR, and DRG/WHM. Chances are most people will go with one of the two first choices. DRG/WHM is an odd combination at best, a gimped one at worst (again, don't know how the numbers come out). So it's not all that odd that you might end up with less experienced or just plain crappier PTs than you would with a more conventional sub choice.

I can respect that opinion and I can see where your coming from. I rather have an oddly matched main and sub job then an under leveled sub, thats all. ^^ I've been in decent partys that didnt say a word about it. I guess it just depends on whos sending the invite.

Personally, with the exception of whm/ANYTHING BUT MAGE or SMN (I'm talking to YOU whm/wars...) I rarely stress over any of the sub combos you see in the dunes. I will not party with a whm that doesn't have a good sub, but other than that I don't see it as a big deal. The dunes aren't intrinsically hard. They're hard because of the claiber of player going through. I don't mind seeing a war/whm through there. It's a ghetto pld, so what?
The dunes are a time to experiment if you aren't experienced. Yes, it can be much to the chagrin of players who know better, but on the other hand, there are usually so many players there, it isn't hard to get a party. I don't think I've ever waited more than 15 mins between invites in the dunes.
If you don't like the players you're with, simply leave. I do it all the time in the Dunes. I just got my pld to 20 last night, thus ending this particular dunes period, and yeah, a lot bugged the shit outta me. So I left numerous parties. I said "I am not going to party with an elvaan whm/war. I know you won't try to get me killed and you'll do you're best, but it won't work. Good luck and given time, you'll agree"
Then you disband. Don't argue with them, don't respond to tells, just let it go.

Oh I didnt agrue with anyone, I just told them they would be better off having a WHM, and told them I was going so they could replace me with one. Its not hard finding a party there, its just hard finding one that doesnt fall apart within 10 minutes to a half hour. Guess thats just the way of the dunes though.

I can't speak much for having bad subs in Dunes, since I went through as a WAR/BRD once(and enjoyed it too =P).

But to actually get a wyvern to use it's healing breath, it seems like you really have to go out of your way to make it do it. First of all, you or your party members have to be down in the red, which is a bad sign in the first place. Second of all, you have to actually have TP ready, which may or may not actually happen.

I believe it will also do a healin breath if you cast a spell while you have low hp, but will that one also heal other PT members? I don't know, since I never took my drg/whm into PTs.

Oy I'd change your sub. If you have someone in the dunes leveling a second job and knows how to put a party together they're not going to invite a DRG/WHM. That'd be like me running in there with a SMN/WAR...Only desperate/new parties are going to invite me. If you have a proper sub chances of being picked up by a great party that can get you 2 levels in a couple of hours are greatly increased. If you end up in parties that just 'accept' your job combination chances are you're going to lose more experience than gain. A lot of experienced players will invite newbies with no subs or some wonky subs like WAR/BLM just because they don't know any better in the dunes, but when you're sporting an advanced job they realize that you should know better and chances are they'll pass you over for a MNK or WAR with no subjob.

Not to mention DRG is allready a nerfed class and needs all the proper stat boosts in order to contribute to a party. No offence though, I know all about being a Nerfed class in the dunes. SMN pre 25 is also a pretty terrible class, so I had to sub a WHM (still do) in order to make any contribution to my parties.

you could save all your TP for after a gob bomb, then use double thrust and heal everyone on your own and save WHM aggro and mana, and less downtime afterword...

Of course, I could also use my TP and my wyvern's breath attacks to actually kill the gob, instead of sitting around waiting for it to throw the multiple bombs it would take to bring my party into the red zone. At Dunes levels, a healing breath will only heal as much HP as a regular cure. I'd rather have it adding to my damage to finish off the mob.

Hats off to people tying different job combinations. BUT, if you are interested in actually being a DRG you should start out with a job that can use polearm so when you start DRG you won't miss any more than usual. 2nd the roll of a DRG is a DD, we don't take hits very well so why cause yourself more hate with cure on top of the large amount of DMG you already do. I have done DRG/WHM farming but would never bring it to an EXP party. This is just my opinion and the way I do thngs in my own little way to help bring the respect back that we deserve.

Healing Breath cures status effects, and is triggered by a weaponskill with /WHM /BLM or /RDM sub.

Cure Breath cures HP, and is triggered by casting a spell when you or a party member in range is under 1/3rd HP (or 1/4th, if you subbed PLD or DRK).

Healing Breat does not cure HP.

Please correct me if im wrong.
