I think there should be a law that says Republican officials have no right to speak or propose legislation on Science or Scientific Spending -_- I don't care how unconstitutional that sounds, they are hindering progress. Especially since the grand total we spend on science research is 7.6 billion dollars. That's 0.2% of the 3.77 trillion federal budget. My god... I get politicians in general hate facts cause it goes against their propaganda, but come on...

why not go all the way and take away their right to vote? I mean they are just standing in the way of "progress" right? maybe we should even build some camps....because they have guns yaknow.

and democrats never put forth asinine, destructive legislation to support their argument or benefit themselves and their allies.

I've yet to see a Democrat attacking science like Republicans :\ that's my main gripe. These religious idiots have no right to have any say on science or its funding. And, in fact, if you actually uphold the constitution, religious reasoning has NO RIGHT at all to be in the government process in the first place.

But seriously, go find me as many Democrats who are trying to shut down science funding or preach against science and for their religion as there are Republicans. Go ahead, try it. See if you can match that challenge.

Republican party is a far far shadow of when it was actually a reasonable party -_- and no, I still don't really care for Democrats (They're sell outs just like Republicans to their corporate donors), but I still haven't seen one attacking science or scientific funding like I have Republicans.

Like, oh, this asshole:

Guess what he's a part of? That's right, the HOUSE SCIENCE COMMITTEE! Why the fuck is some idiot who is so anti-science, pro-religion have ANY right to be on the House Science Committee?

And this asshole who created the bill to fuck with Scientific Funding? He's the fucking Chairman of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology. WHY THE HELL are idiots like this being placed on such a thing? Oye...

Edit: this person has a good blog about this - fluffyman.livejournal.com/197617.html

Edit: Oh look, Republicans want to get rid of the Census.

Article - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/01/gop-census-bill_n_3188043.html
Bill itself - http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/BILLS-113hr1638ih/pdf/BILLS-113hr1638ih.pdf

Seriously, what the fuck. Are they completely against gathering facts entirely? The more they do, the more they prove themselves to be the "Party of stupid"

the republicans have no monopoly on stupid, I think Hank Johnson would give any repub a good fight for chairmanship of the party of stupid.

Oh there are definitely stupid Democrats in politics (or those who say stupid things), but there are still a far greater frequency of Republicans and, again, they always are attacking facts and science and it's getting tiresome.

Though I don't really see it being stupid to say "a world without balloons" It's minor, but there is a helium shortage problem. Granted, he focuses on the silly shallow things Helium is used for, but there definitely is a need to educate people about the helium shortage.

That bit is nowhere NEAR as stupid as "Evolution and science are lies straight from the pits of hell" or anything like that. And yet these idiots are put on the Science Committee... they have NO place to be on any science committee.

The thing here is that there are stupid and shortsighted individuals in government.

The instant you start lumping them together into large groups based on ideology is the instant you start ignoring the good parts of their positions based solely on the parts you disagree with.
