When we had this thanks option before, I agree with Rappa that it looked cluttered and actually detracted from the conversation taking place because every post or every other post, you'd have a block in between of who thanked who.

I say if the rep system has become so unbearable for so many, just get rid of it in general. Then people can take up space PMing their personal thoughts when they have something additional to say instead of utilizing the space a few lines takes.

Thanks, but no thanks. I just don't see the point of it.
 
yes, no real developed opinions here but i thought thanks was more direct than the rep feature but neither can be considered better than one another for reasons said in the past
 
Oh, that does kinda look bad. Makes it a bit "cramped" looking. Idea is kinda nice, but making the boards and posts look cluttered kinda takes away some of the enjoyment from reading.

I guess just using the rep system works, that's what i've seen most users use so far.

You actually do get used to it when it's around, or at least I do. It is kind of fun, but it is very pointless. We don't use a rep system on my forum, so it's sorta helpful as that, but it's not the most useful feature in the world.

It gets kinda funny though.

Admin bans really annoying person.
Everyone and their mother thanks him.

I am reading your posts, don't think I'm ignoring them. The poll is open for another few days. I'm 99% sure the option won't be put in but I may as well tire the poll out!
 
Mayhaps instead of thanking for a post, JUST the topic.

And simply having it say, "_ number of people thank ____ for this post" somewhere. Maybe near the bottom around the quote/mutliquote/quick reply area.

Thus, it removes clutter, replaces rep system with a more friendly system, and isn't really a e peen situation.
