“We’re almost done here..” Sandria admitted openly.

“You sound defeated, San..”

“Raka... You’re wro--” She sighed and shook her head. It was difficult to finish her defense when her companion could see right through her. Over time the two mithras had become inseparable. Sandria had never been one to embark on an adventure alone, but there was something far more unique about their particular union than any of her other friendships. Raka was becoming all that Sandria was not, and everything that she wished she could be. From wielding blades of precious metal to her innate sense of confidence, Sandria was always kept in awe. Despite their distinctions, the two never had to battle with petty jealousy.

“...Wrong?” Raka remained thoughtful even in her mild amusement. “No, I’m not.” Her words were more piercing than her katana. And like her katana, her words went unceasing. “Admit it San, you haven’t been the same since you established your pact with Diabolos. And what scares you most...”

“I’m not scared, Raka.” Spoken with the same breath and urgency as the one used to conjure Carbuncle to her side. There was something so delicate and child-like in her words that Raka couldn’t help but feel momentarily compassionate. “I’m just–“ Silence fell upon her thinning lips and she drifted into thought for several awkward moments. “I’m just... tired.” It would seem as though Raka accepted that, but she hardly believed it. She’d drop the subject for now and resume slaying the monster in their path. She'd get to the bottom of this.
