so i was in jeuno the other day and my good frined deu aksed me if he could barrow 3 mil (now thats all the gil i've got) he says dont worry man i got alot of shit up on the AH.. now i have known deu for A LONG time and i would trust this guy with my life.. plus he has my PCC and nothing has yet to happen to that... so i lend him the three mil so he can get a hold of this good peice of equip for cheap i guess... any ways... i'm driving around the next day and deu gives me a call... says dude ur not gonna believe what happened (now at first i was a little confused) ok what happened?... deu: someone got on my acct and EVERYTHING is gone (i start to laugh) dude ur so full of shit this aint even funny. deu: dude im not joking..

long story short turns out zalbar (the only other person with deu's PW) has an asshole for a room mate and he plays FFXI too... well i guess his roommate stole the PW logged on and took everything..... even the formor codex that deu had.... now at first i sorta just let this slide... and i didnt really care... but now that im pennyless... and w/o my most expensive peice of equip that i poured blood sweat and tears into to getting... its gone.... all gone and now im angry... if i EVER meet this "Water" (or i think thats the room mates char name) person in game or in RL i will do every thing in my power to make his life a living hell till i get my shit back... and most of u reading this are probably like its just a game chill out... well i would chill out had i not lost every thing i worked for to an ass hat who has no regard for any ones feelings nor properity $%$^*)#*%$(*%(#@ >.<

i jsut want my shit back... after everything i have done for ppl in this game... and after all the nice things i have done to help ppl out... this is how i get repaid... its just not right
 
That sucks, man, but that is not what this forum is for; it is Neighboorhood Watch, not the Flameboard. There is no factual evidence presented here at all.

Please do not turn this into another flameboard.

In all fairness, it was originally located in General Discussion, which is when I made my post. It was moved here, rather than deleted, so Sculli must've felt (at the very least) that the thread was worthy of surviving.

This kind of arbitrary, subjective nuance to the new system is kind of my biggest peeve with it. There's no telling how something will go, once it begins to tread the line: I, too, would have predicted that this would be swiftly deleted ... going solely off of the letter of the new rules.
 
sry i didnt know where to put this so i came to the general disscusion mostly cuz i was so mad i didnt care anymore..
 
I see this as a growing system. I believe Sculli has a vision that has developed over the long discussions, and is now trying to make it work. But since there's no predicting the future, this is the "Beta" testing.

But I belive this is another case of "he said" "she said" arguments. What level of proof will this board required to be posted before it is accepted as a valid entry? This person was obviously mad, but stated names, conditions, and the whys and wherefores. As well as a requested solution: Get His Gil & PPC back. What proof can he provide other than phone records of his friend talking to customer support or a screen shot of an empty inventory. The truth of the accusation is based upon his word against another person's.

In my opinion; a requirement of high level of proof will provide less posts and fewer arguments, because "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition." A lower level of proof will require level heads, as many facts as possible, and the inevidible debate when people agree or dissagree with accusers.
 
Yea, I completely know how you feel.. except mine didnt come from giving stuff out or giving my info out.. but every single thing I own.... gone
 
Actually, I moved the post.

Just like you guys - I know me, as a mod - am going to need a little time to 'feel out' the new rules. I wasn't sure if this was going to end up being deleted or what, but I knew it didn't belong on GD. I've asked Sculli to give me a little insight on the matter, but {please forgive me}, I'm new to this too :/

This is not a courtroom and there is no sentencing. This is a PUBLIC FORUM. If you're gonna demand proof, this forum will wither and die. Proof is not important.

If someone says "this guy ripped me off on a BCNM!" what proof is there? I say to you.. who cares? I'm not gonna pt with a thieving jerk. PERIOD.

This is not a flameboard style post.. there is no "OMG YOU (insert bad things) I KEEL YEW!"
no.. this is a topic about a guy getting ripped off for his best gear. Yes, this belongs here, yes, this is perfectly reasonable.

While I agree that some kind of proof is required, comparing Final Fantasy XI to the Salem witch trials is a far stretch.

In regard to OP:
Have you talked to Zalbar and asked if maybe he can log on to his roommate's computer and steal your stuff back? Keep in mind, if this does happen, and more gets stolen than was originally yours, you are just as bad as him.

On a related note to Peregrine:
What defines susbstance? Your post has nothing at all in relation to the OP. In fact, your post detracts from the overall "substance" in this thread about the OP's problem with someone stealing his items/gil. Your last paragraph is quite hypocritical IMO, as you are furthering Dowzer's "prophecy" with your off-topic post about Salem.
