Windows 7 Beta

Take note, the 3 years dev cycle is from when Vista was released.

That's early 2007 I think? So, it'll probably be out some time early next year, or maybe even late this year. That's about right, too, since this beta is supposed to last until August.

Microsoft say aprox 3 years to develop.

Q. What is the expected timeline for the availability of Windows 7?

A. We are currently in the planning stages for Windows 7 and expect it will take approximately 3 years to develop. The specific release date will be determined once the company meets its quality bar for release.

Vista was Q1 2007; Win7 will probably be Q4 2009 - Q2 2010.

They'll have to lengthen support for XP/Server 2003 again, though, as most (US) government systems are Server 03/XP Pro-driven, and those systems were implemented fully in late 2003/2004?

oh, and installing 7 beta now on my work laptop (god bless the 160gb drive I got!)
