In effect, this is what WSM is conveying to us:

I had a girlfriend i met through craigslist 2 years ago. I left her last year because I couldn't get her to quit using. 3 weeks ago she and her friend got arrested for carjacking. they Detoxed her cold turkey in jail, now she is thinking clearly for the first time in a long time, but she is fucked. Well all the feelings I had for her have come back and i am devastated. I have always loved her, never stopped, even when she was homeless living in the woods by the highway in a beat up tent. I know i should forget her, she may do a few years in prison, but I can't. I been visiting her twice a week since she got thrown in jail. Bail was set at $2500 because she had a prior larceny charge when she was 19 (she is 25 now). She doesn't want to be bailed out unless its straight to a program (good sign).

questions anyone? I'm too stubborn, so give advice if you want, but it won't likely do anygood. I do appreciate the thought though.

There's a certain low self-esteem group of folks that need attention to feel something, anything, rather than the nothing they usually deal with on a constant basis; these folks also cannot stand being bored and will do literally anything to avoid boredom. This is their heroin. Hopefully they grow out of it; otherwise, it's an early grave, incarceration or a life of constant misery.
