Your gear.

The blessed briault does not effect the amount of elemental resistance you gain from spells like barfira. I don't even remember if there was proof that it actually did anything; although the last theory that I heard was that it boosted the duration or the bar-status effect spells.

You'll have to take it with a grain of salt since it's from Wiki, but

Wiki said:
A Bar Element spell cast by a White Mage wearing Blessed Briault adds Magic Defense Bonus+5 for magic damage of the appropriate element.

Ah, maybe that was it then. I knew it didn't directly relate to the elemental resistance number, but it was something you didn't definitely see.

Blessed mitts return more mp on cure 5 than healing mitts do(on anything else healing magic doesn't matter), while having more -enmity, mp and haste. With the AF+1, you're only getting an extra 2.33 hp out of them while trading off that haste, so no, they're really not worth wearing ever.

It gives an extra magic defense bonus

With the gear I had listed, nothing else macro'd in, I'm consistent at 820. On Lightsday, I hit 840-890, with Korin Obi, on Lightsday(if I don't forget to grab it from mog safe, AND don't forget to put it on.....) my Cure V consistently hits 1045.(This figure based on curing too many overzealous MNKs >.>)
With my normal Cure gear non-lightsday non-WHM ring, I get 842 HP on Cure V. This is with roughly 140 MND. But then again, I don't have noble's+1. Saving my gil for Morrigan's Body...

Only see 1 person mention Aslan Cape. Seems that would be the best overall piece for back?

I personally think Errant Cape is better overall.

Ixion cape is the best overall back piece. MP, MND(if you care), and -enmity all in one package.

Yes, if you want -enmity go for errant cape. Probably better investement than ixion's cape considering aslan is free and only -2 enmity VS -5 on errant.

Ixion's cape is free, and it's unquestionably a better cape than Aslan. Aslan is a cheaper, "gimper" alternative, but not a "better investment."

Aslan is good if you can't get Ixion. Ixion is, imo, far superior to the other back pieces.

Ixion's cape is free

No.

Ixion's cape : 3.5M @ AH, 4M in bazaar and rare sales too.
Aslan's cape : 40k of Einherjar entry cost.
Errant cape : 1M ish

he means it's free as in get off your ass and go camp it

Can't be assed listing macroed gear swaps etc, so I'll go for the first bit of gear for every slot that springs to mind.

Weapon: Templar Mace / Pluto's Staff
Sub: Dominus Shield / Bugard Strap +1
Head: Walahra + Zenith Crown
Neck: Beak Necklace until I get the Ichor for Morgana's
Earring1: Loquacious
Earring2: Antivenom
Body: Aristocrat's/Cleric's
Hands: Blessed Mitts
Ring1: Tamas
Ring2: Sapphire
Back: Blue Cape / Rainbow Cape
Waist: Hierarch/Penitent's Rope
Legs: Blesses Trousers
Feet: Cleric's Duckbills

Cure V is about 890 - 900 iirc

So basically everything is free in the game. You don't need money, just have to farm it.

If you don't pay for something, it's free. So yes, everything can be free, if you put in the time and effort needed to obtain it. Failing to see the point here, however.

Basically speaking, yes.

Every single item in this game can be obtained by farming the materials for it or camp the nm that drops said item, it's just that there are those willing to pay for it instead of camping/farming because of too many reasons to post.

I don't mind this trivial "philosophy" but that's exactly the way prehistorcic humans lived 100,000 years ago lawl. The truth is if you want this cape you got to pay for it or farm it for your leaders then buy from them.

Funny how it's only trivial to someone unable to actually obtain it for free. Trying to associate people willing to put effort into getting this as some kind of "caveman philosophy" is just asinine though.

Even Aslan cape isn't free, you have to pay for your share of the lamp, attend multiple runs, and "farm" the ampules, which is assuming you're winning. Same thing as Ixion's cape, only you don't have to pay money for the chance to fight Ixion. Looking at it that way, Aslan's actually costs more than Ixion's.
