The shit that's been happening in the Flameboards over the last couple of days has just really disenchanted me even wanting to come back to this site. Actually, it's pretty much because Jamal hasn't been perma-banned yet for whatever reason. I used to not have a problem with him, but his constant whining about shit, trolling peoples posts, the fact that he doesn't brush his teeth, and being able to get away with anything has really made me hate this site.

It's late (3am) and I'm having trouble falling asleep even though I'm tired, so this might not make sense. I'm going to be thinking of reasons to stay with this site, and if I can't, I'm going to request the banhammer.

Nooo Lucki! I know what you mean - don't really understand why the mods keep him on such a long leash. Maybe it's just easier to placate him? Acr/Miros/Dino strike me as fairly solid mods, so I'm not sure why everyone is ignoring the elephant in the room. Jamal does kind of push the line when it comes to forum decorum, but still anyone else would be sent a cease and desist. And the whole sanctioned user thing is meh. I mean he can basically do everything except what... use a sig/avatar, leave VMs, use the chatbox and partake in the rep system (which is a moot point now lol). And like... isn't he the only person with this status? Neat, I want a custom usergroup. I don't know, it just seems like a lot of effort which isn't procuring desirable results. I guess there are more pressing matter at hand? :p

All I'm saying is, a friend and I were talking about it the other day and if we were mods, we'd just plain throw down with him - just because we're bitches and we like doing that.

I think I may just hang back and see how matters unfurl. If it stagnates then, well then it's been a wild ride QueenCalmDownNow. :awesome: :awesome:

Well, honestly speakin this topic does bring up some concerns.

Lately I've been avoiding qcdn as well as the B@W forum.
This for the simle reason that there's been a lot of Jamal hate on here and on the public forums from which I think, isn't it going abit too far?
I can only imagine what is going through the heads of the Qcdn modmins at this moment.
There's a ton of people getting banned, read only'd and restricted... and for what?
A single player that has already started digging his way towards a permaban that is now trying to take as many people with him as possible.

Don't let him take you with him, be above him!

As far as this forum goes, as much as I dislike Jamal and his attitude towards other people in general.
Jamal's not part of this group and yet he seems to be a dominant part of this private forum while he doesn't even have access to this place.
I beg you, all of you, please leave Jamal or any other person you have problems with out of this place!!
This is a place for us to come to have fun during the boring times at work, to blow off some work related steam is ok, we even have a listening ear for your real life beefs if you have something on your heart, but leave forum and in game related problems out of here please!
Especially when they start dominating our minds and moods in ways it shouldn't, it's just one person and I cannot believe he has such a grip on people.

Whatever you do on the public forums is your own choice, but I'd like to keep this place a fun drama free place.
And there's been a lot of that going on here lately.

@Miros,
If you read this, is there a way you can restrict people from even seeing the flameboard altogether?
Honestly, even though I go there for a laugh sometimes and have my personal vendeta against some newly transfered botters.
I think the whole flameboard is an eyesore and has been overshooting it's purpose lately.

we used to not have the fb there but qcdn lost a lot of traffic and there was flamebaiting everywhere(not as much now to clarify), still the fb is an area you can choose to go to or not. You're right in people mostly posting about Jamal all the time and sometimes I wish I didn't start but the stress from one area carries over.

I didn't even want to get involved in the flame(s) but when my name started coming up eventually I figured it was time to put things into perspective. I'm quite satisfied where Jamal is now one of the two things Miros has done to make the site better is put him on sanction and remove the rep system. He's pretty shy of being permabanned which is why Mommy Miros will be looking over his shoulder as well as the rest of the mods since if he posts one flamebait outside the fb he's gone.

Of course Miros seems to start cracking as well due to his little episode on the posts from his sig announcement thread. Also the subjective clause of him having the final say hasn't worked to his approval by the people which caused a lot of negative feedback. It's also that the moderation exclusively applied to the fb and fanworks(lol) while some of the job discussions have flamebaits in them and continue to keep chugging.

The site could be in worse hands, I'm not saying it's hardly perfect but it's going a progressive direction sinking down then going up a bit higher from it's last peak.

I think as long as you turn the site off sometimes like some people need to do it's not something to get worried over, in five years I won't be concerned with what happens here even now I'm not concerned because it has no real importance that translates directly into real life.

In defense of Miros, (once again being modmin on several forums myself)
He gets a lot of shit, and I mean the sites I moderate respectively have between 20 and 2k members from which a couple of regulars and an asston of lurkers.
Comapred to the job Miros has here, my job is easy as shit but even then I know exactly what Miros is going through on a daily basis.
This site has over 10k from which a couple hundred maybe even one thousand regulars to keep an eye on.
And they all have opinions.

In my short active time on QCDN (Which is no more then 6 months.) I've seen very drastic changes and some things brought up which were forgotten.
Some of them is the enforcement of some old rules that had been in place for years.
One example is the avatars and sigs, a rule that has been handled quite leniant if you look at it.
However lately it has gone out of control and the rule needed to be reenforced, guess what.
People will cry and give shit about it, a rule that has been in place since I dare to bet the foundation of Qcdn.

Miros: "Hey guys I'like to remind you of this and this rule that has been in place for years but we feel the need to remind you because we are pretty open minded about this particular rule but we see it's been going out of control a bit lately."
Somebody: "THIS IS TYRANY ALL THESE NEW RULEZ!!"
Sheep: "Stop the tyrany!"
*snap*

In my opinion Miros is still doing a great job keeping this place up and running, however I have the feeling that for the most part he is alone.
And all this shit, especially going on lately... is a loooot of shit to scoop up for one person.

To be honest, when I have a beef he is the person I turn to and I am sure I am not the only one.
However he's always been polite and quick to act and that's why I usually turn to him.

And Miros, if you're reading this too.
In regards to the job forums, who is responsible for that place?

I completely agree that Miros is doing a far better job than Scully, god yes. I just don't understand the situation with Jamal, it's counter-productive. It makes it all the more difficult to moderate because a) He has to watch Jamal like a hawk and b) He has to deal with the back-lash from members who wonder why Jamal is being handled with fuzzy pink mitts when a more proactive approach is in order. Hey, if he wants to make it harder on himself, that's fine - but if you're asking to cut him some slack because he's "putting out fires" then I will just say that you know... he had some degree of choice in the matter. I mean if the measures he took made everything peachy, we wouldn't be having this discussion, right?

I actually avoid the FB like the plague, and only go there for my funnies. And the sig thing lol. I was just riding Miros's back. I found it odd that all of our Kotsu sigs were editted while other offending ones remain and thought that there might be something fishy behind it. In retrospect, there probably isn't but it's still strange that we're now taking such a hard-line stance against sigs (after all this time) when there are other issues more deserving of an iron fist.

I think it's mostly because Jamal does have a lot of friends on here and when he isn't trying to get someone's goat he posts some very informative threads. Personally I don't see why everyone lets him get to them so easily. Just don't plan to do events with him and if he give you crap ingame, GM his butt and be on your merry way. I know not everyone can help it because they have a friend or two in common with him but just don't let him get to you! I'm tired of hearing everyone talk about him too. Giving him attention like that is something he wants.

I think I'm with Lucki; I'm just gonna go out with a bang. I spent a lot of time (10 WHOLE minutes >.>) on that sig...

Before doing that, ask yourself:

Is it worth it?
Think about that for a while before placing an answer.

Just hang out here and ignore the rest of the forums. (But lol@toothbrush comment.)

There are plenty of B@W members who can't stand Jamal and are sick to death of his name coming up every 3 seconds. Let's just stop taking about him. Not just that, but just ignore his shit. Don't read it. Don't respond to it. Nothing. He just wants attention anyway, don't give it to him.

I'm not gonna bring him up in here anymore either. I'm concluding the flame tomorrow, and gonna make sure that if I get banned it'll be worth it. It'll be the funniest damn thing you see. XD

Talk about who? :awesome:

L-bitches, get down with your bad selves!

I'm sorry if I am not able to take part in it anymore.

To be fair QCDN is pretty shit nowadays. I only come here to not lose contact with people I know and like.

This.

It's a sad state of affairs sir. But I <3 my Sharpey

I have tried to stay out of the Dramal situation as much as possible, even though I especially don't care for for the guy and have the option (being the ignore and /blacklist functions do exist). And when I did bring up an honest question about the situation it just turned into "why are you attacking us". The issue isn't related to any single person in my eyes, its an overall content problem that will take some changes to repair. And it will definitely resurface (looking at history again), the only way to keep it to a minimum impact is to change how it is dealt with. So, since I am new here in B@W and this is pretty limited in it's audience, I will make the comments I have always thought and hopefully no one gets offended.

/begin rant

Moderation of any community, no matter how large or small requires a couple of things that are against human nature. Of these requirements, the ability to separate relationships and/or the natural inclination for people to want their decisions to be considered "fair" in community's eye. To be completely un-biased is just not as possible as we would like it to be.

The infraction system in place at QCDN is basically an attempt to give every person multiple opportunities to modify their behavior to make this community as positive as possible while adhering to the ruleset. The only issue I see is the infraction system has the appearance of being at the discretion of the person applying, inviting some level of what could be perceived as favoritism.

Let's not kid ourselves here, Miros and team have done a fantastic job of making the situation as palatable as possible in most situations. They get relatively no pats on the back, only bitching whenever something doesn't go how someone thinks is the "right way" and on top of that they have to deal with the never-ending weighing of the impacts of choices with removing / punishing someone versus the betterment of the traffic.

What I propose is what I see at the other communities successful within this subject matter. (Looking at Allah, KillingIfrit, BlueGartr, and Windower for examples here) All other forums have some form of drama that crops up from time to time (asshat calling, etc). Their moderation basically gives a warning, then removes the person. There will always be another drama queen to start up the bullshit, even looking through QCDN history you can see this. However, QCDN provides many many options before completing this task with frequent posters. This just in turn provides the opportunity for the positive people to move on, as you see in this thread and a couple of others. Not to mention the people that move on w/o this notice. Also, the target of "adding in the larger linkshells" just continues to not move forward as their leaders just come to recruit and still see the drama ongoing.

1) Warn with infraction system, level of infraction determining length or level of punishment.
2) "Ban it and forget it"

We all know these guys are doing the best they can to make everyone happy, I don't think that's causing people to look at moving on. It's the fact that by allowing the people in question to remain members will always perpetuate the drama just by others talking about it. As long as the flameboard remains, there will be drama. However, the target of this community is entertainment therefore it MUST stay, but it MUST stay within that forum. When someone does any douchebaggery outside that environment (in any form in violation of the rules), they must be warned and removed.

I for one would like to bring more content to this forum, and want to encourage our LS members to participate fully. But this simply isn't viable option as long as the level of drama is out there. I continually put to much on my plate to get done (agreed contradiction to what I just said), and I can also see that happening with the content that could be provided here too.

/end rant

(I know my posts are always like that lol, but I don't speak out a lot either)

Yup. I've had to make a fair amount of sacrifices in the name of fairness since taking up the mantle in SV.

Kotsu as much as I like you, don't do this. You'll just be making yourself look stupid and give Miros more work. And lets face it, he don't need anymore of that.
