I just can figure out why they're doing it now rather than a few years ago in the games life. Are they also putting out another expansion or are they increasing experience gained in toau or wotg areas? I think this a dumb idea from the outside looking in. Although warrior/ninja tanks with utsu: ni could be really appealing.

They are releasing mini expansions over the course of this year, and new full expansions certainly aren't out of the question just yet. I think they are just preparing us for something big. I mean, we still have a lot of the world map we haven't explored yet, such as the Northern Continents of the Gigas, Tenzen's home of the Far East, and the Mithran Continent to the South.

I'm thingking they'll add new areas together with the Abyssea addons.

What I am really hoping for is that they'll add ways to get faster exp other then astral/chigoe burning.
Leveling to 99 won't be so bad if you have can do it getting 40~50k/hour in a normal exp/merit setup.

War's already have utsu: ni when subbing nin >.>

And yes there is a whole new expansion coming out. I really don't see why people are bitching. They think hnm will be easy and everything current will be soloable. Which is true, but think about it.. SE wants all current gear to basically turn to shit and release all new types in the expansion area. Nidhogg will be cake, but the only person thats gunna want an adaberk is some 75 peeps, till they get better gear at 90+. I think it's a great idea, I've been doing the same shit in this game for YEARS. Over and over, it gets old. Even if this fucks up the games balance I don't even care, cause its something new, and ff14 is coming out anyway.

You know, I find it funny how so many people can stake their money on FF14.
I mean, we don't even know if it's going to be any good.
The game is still at the alpha stages and only a selected few lucky bastards will have the ability to say 'Hey, I was one of the first!' in a few days.
For the same chance the game sucks incredibly and won't even live through the first months after release. (highly doubtful but not impossible.)

That really wasn't what I was going for in my post, it was just like "hey if this fucks up the game at least 14 is coming". I don't really care if it's good or not, but they have a high reputation, so I really doubt it's going to. I was mainly focusing on the people bitching about the new cap.

only thing i dont like about it is having to pick up all these jobs and use them to lvl up. instead of using a job for convenience for merits or whatever

well as long as the new zones are not purple colored I'll be happy. I think I'm just a bit irritated about leveling again partly because every Jaderattlesnake out there are 75 already and I'll have to deal with them and partly because my game time is already screwed up and I'm trying to figure when I'll have time to actually level up lol.

I'm hoping Walk of Echoes has behemoths, adamantoise, and wyrms are standard enemies.

Actually I think this could be a good thing for all these multi-job people out there having a 99 cap will allow them to settle on one job and get it there first, (I understand there is some new kind of merit system too for when people reach 99) for me I certainly wont be touching jobs I have no desire to level anymore and without the lure of a matts cap maybe people will start specialising in one job again.

Personally I dont think I'll be leveling very many of my lv 75 jobs any higher, and probably only one or two I really enjoy all the way to 99. I've changed alot since leveling many of my jobs to 75 and the desires arent there for many of them now.

That's great an all, but it's not like the cap's going to shoot straight up to 99 come June.
Unless getting from 76-80 is excruciatingly difficult for people.
As for my job, I still have to take WHM, RNG, DRG, and SCH to 75. I'm going to see where the dev team takes Bard, and if I don't like it I'll probably just retire it then and there.

Wonder if the new quests for raising level cap will be as much of a thrill as the first ones.

Well, technically a lot of the new higher content will probably be limited to Abyssea, which you have to pay for.
Not entirely free :x

Still, I'm stoked about the year's updates. It might be just enough to get me to maintain subs to both XIV and XI.

I really like your perspective on this and it does sort of feel like a fresh start. I only have 4 75jobs with a 5th on the way. I feel very spread out. I can only imagine how the 10+ 75 job people must feel. Again, I like that perspective. BST and SAM rule for me and they will bet there no doubt.

I'm looking forward to this lvl cap increase. It will be quite fun. Mind you, I'll probably be in FFXIV's beta this year if I get selected to join in for that, and will eventually go to 14 either way once it's released.

Drk to 99 ftw! Then maybe blu and pld.

Still, each section is less than the monthly $12.99 for the game. While I'm sure there are some people out there for whom $9.99 is a big deal, for the majority of us it is the equivalent of skipping a movie this month, cutting out Starbucks for a week, or eating Top Ramen/Mac n' Cheese for a couple of extra nights. If that's part of your normal schedule, then I suppose my comment is pretty insensitive.

I'll probably take all of my 75's to 99 eventually, although it may take me a while. We'll see just how hard each of the jobs gets hit. I've already started working the subs still at 37 up to the 49/50 mark. Apart from trying to find room for the gear, it's been rather fun getting some of them out for a tan again.

The majority of the nay-sayers I've come across are people who have either recently quit, or were damned close to doing so before the announcement. Seems to me that there are even more people who are having their interest in the game re-kindled.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the changes. I hope Squeenix manages more than just a semblance of balance without going to town with the nerf bat.

I'm wondering if we'll have a Whm shortage at 99, since I keep hearing from Whm's 'thats it no more!' and many may consider 24 more lv's of healing too much to bear.
