I've always had really bad luck when it comes to soloing. I seem to mischarm at the worst times. Best I have solo'd is Sheildtrap in Riverne Site #A01. Charmed an IT fly to start off then tried to widdle it down with T and Em birds hovering around Hippos. I got super close to defeating it...

If you are solo/duo I think you can be cheap as humanly possible and still get away with it. I didn't get Apollo's staff until after 75 and didn't see a huge difference from the light staff. (Huge difference can be seen if you don;t have the staff though) There's so many different play styles...
