What can you guys do for solo? In terms of NMs and stuff, capped areas as well(BC, etc)
 
From my experience BST can solo the JSE subligars , BST can duo swift belt NM , BST can get decent exp (and little better with the update today) and farm Wisteria Lumber,Tree cuttings and Boyanda Moss in the tree easily. Oh and BST can gang up big NMs when theres alot of them together...
I'm know theres ALOT more NMs and exp/farmable things BST can do solo but those are just a few things i can think of quickly.

BST does everything that people don't want to do :p

The worst offender being Hakutaku. You can solo it, it'll take a while, and you must not screw up. And hopefully an alliance of 18 doesn't show up and interrupt XD

Shooting Fish BCNM (iirc)
TOAU Fomor NM for coin
Star Pendant NM
Merrow 5 The one that drops the +5CHR Rare/Ex boots

Solo damn near anything to 75 /bst. :D
 
Some of us also fail to charm a rarab outside Sandy as a lvl 75 bst with full gear.


Ps: In all seriousness though, what i enjoyed about Bst (aside from it being my *main* job, always has been), was that i found out i could die in so many other ways i thought possible, multiple times. It was the most fun ever, that's for sure. :)

But we can get a chain 5 for the max exp possible (450 exp, which was before the exp bands and all the other cool exp bonuses came out)

What can BST kill

BST can pwn lots of NM's in groups and with a few SMN can PWN all gods easily. Beware do not try an Melee if you are with them on Gods and other NM's as you will gain hate faster than the pets do and from my experience even if they /WHM they tend to only heal themselves lol ^^.
 
I haven't done gods as BST in forever (pre-Snarl), but I think it'd be relatively safer post Snarl, since some of the fight you'll be using jugs.
 
Some of the NMs I have soloed on BST:

Ose
Hellion
Soulstealer Skullnix
Narasimha
(The last 3 I killed for the hell of it while camping Ose)
Merrow No.5 (I love killing this one, lolVirelai on charmed pets)
Fingerfilcher Dradzad
Cobraclaw Buchzvotch
(last 2 were for past Sandy quests)

I am currently planning on trying to solo Brass Borer w/e I get off my lazy ass and get some Zeni.
 
BST is the only job that can reliably solo Cactuars :)

That's how i got my kung fu shoes, back when they weren't dirt cheap.
 
Things they don't tell you:

1. You can go afk during most solo/duo battles without much worry of death. Just remember to come back and say "hew... that was close"

2. You can get really scared of some of your job abilities like "Sic" Aoe's from your pet never seem to go as planned.

3. You can solo a lot of things... but never mention how many times you had to home point... it's a better story then.

Bst: is the best job to teach you not to love your XP.

hats off to you on that one, I remember when Mish was whm/bst and me on rdm... it's not a fun ride because it has two abilities that make it annoying


triple attack rate(read: high)- means that your pet will be rapidly losing enmity and going back to you even worse when you use a single ability

high evasion- self explanatory


I've done some minor soloing as rdm/bst back in my noob days using /bst was also part of the reason I got my moldavite earring at 50 or so for rdm^^
 
Soulstealer Skullnix wasn't too bad of a solo, WHM/BST should be easy.

I soloed it many times on PLD/BST, RDM/BST and... BST, lol. All for that fucking dagger. But it looks good. But mainly because Ose won't pop ...
 
that's true there are much worse things than that but i felt fairly useless during that fight sans bind and gravity and getting new pets. the only problem with bst and sometimes smn that was frequent with mobs with high attack rates(or bad luck?) is that pets would come back at a sliver of life with the nm/monster on you then they hit the pet and kill it and then kill you.
