some good, fast exp, and yet proving to more people BLM's usefulness in Aht Urghan areas.

Party consisted of:

BLM - Jojojo (made the awesome party)
WHM - Norkio
RDM - Viperuk
MNK - Eormanric
NIN - Yuitt
BLU - Ruffyreborn

Didnt really chain too high, high chain was 12+, but still got some very decent exp. 14k in the hour we were there I believe.

Was at 12k exp, used Empress and ended at 18k exp.
Switched to Merit, where I had a 118 limit count, ended with ~9k

Pretty basic as for what we did. I mainly pulled puks, mamool, w/e as a BRD would, and used Yawn to let em nap at the camp. Worked about 90% of the time, and if it did fail, we were on our feet in a matter of seconds, with Jojo or Viper sleeping, or just moving on to the awake mob.

Hit a few bumps, with as many as 5 linking mobs sometimes, but were easily slept with Yawn. I <3 that spell. Im liking BLU more and more each day I play it.

All in all, a great party, with a somewhat odd setup these days.

Eor is the bomb! Mobs don't stand a chance against him.

That is all.

Thanks a bunch ruffy ^_^

The key for BLMs to be useful in merit is to save most of one's MP for chain 6+. The melees can make chain 5 perfectly well on their own.

Edit: wow, was it really only an hour of fighting? I got 11k in that time, but with no ring, and I got there really late.

Eor was in it. That is all. I'm actually gonna make a goodtimes post later about the party I had with him the other day.

With that setup I can guarantee you it was mostly Eor.

Otherwise, congrats on a good party.

Some players seem to have little or no faith in BLM's or BLU's and their potential. HB alone was doing comparable damage to Asuran Fists on the mobs we fought, and Jojo laid out some good spells

BLU I have limited comment on because I've only partied with them once in a merit party, but I was less than impressed. He had limited DoT, and yeah, he had some nice spike DMG, but with a cap on how often he can spike, he's not going to be as efficient as most other jobs.

BLMs in a melee oriented merit party is just plain stupid. Sure, they can drop a 1300dmg+ nuke, but then they have to rest ~36 seconds to make that MP back. It's just so inefficient compared to melees.

However, in addition to that, you have a WHM -and- a RDM in the same merit party, which is absolutely a waste of space. Either: A) Drop the RDM and get a bard, or if no BRD available, B) Drop the WHM and get another melee.

I'm willing to bet Eor was probably doing 45% of that party's damage, the BLU doing 20-25%~, the NIN doing 20-25%~, and the BLM doing the leftover 10-12%~

Im just gonna let this be and not argue. It was a good time for everyone in the pt from my standpoint, and I dont feel like having this thread smashed into. Two first-hand accounts here can give their insight as to how the pt ran, and what went on, and how successful each job was at doing their part

And on another related note, there are other ways to make succesful parties, instead of bandwagoning

Well, clearly you're not just gonna "let this be" based on your last added "jab" in there. =P

I'm not saying that those jobs can't function mediocrely in a party, but.. You got 14k/hr. I regularly pull 21-23k/hr, and my WAR has mediocre gear at best, in addition to being taru. In 2hours, I'll be getting an entire merit more than you.

To me, 20k/hr+ is successful, 25k/hr+ is great, and 15k/hr is mediocre. Your standards are low because you've apparently never been in more than maybe 1 or 2 -good- merit parties.

Meriting without a bard sucks ass, by the way.

Im sorry about that jab D:

Blah, Im gonna stop this time I promise lol

But yeah, my standards are low, because I dont have a cannon job. To me, 6k is the "meh, average" point, between 6-10k is good, 10k+ is great.

Gear up your DRK and you can do some decent damage, and still pull 20k/hr. A meripo's success is based mostly upon the mages anyways. A good BRD+RDMorWHM can make a 20k/hr pt, but then you need pimpe melee to make it 25k/hr.

Fixed. And about the on-going discussion, no one who plays the game is ever going to say "you can't xp well with (jobs listed here)" because you can. It's just, you can xp better with "bandwagon" jobs. That's a gameplay mechanic, not a player's fault. Anyway, carry on.

Im trying to stay away from using my DRK anymore, unless I have to. I would really like to collect adaman gear first, which I am in the process of starting. Then I will attempt to collect some hecatomb, but already have some abj's of heca.. Just no money

Ruffy.. hecatomb abj only cost about 400k to uncurse nowadays and you had 850k to spend a little while ago. Go buy one cursed something at least.

270k is what Ive got now, and I dont use DRK too much anymore. Buying heca wouldve been a waste for me :(
