10 Million Paying Gold Members

We had an argument long ago. I wont let it die. People claimed MS numbers of 8M or so Live members was Silver members included. Well here we go. 10Million paying Gold members. Not including silver members there are over 10Million live acounts. Is Gamepro BSing, i dunno. Just posting what i found. I wouldnt doubt it myself since i believed the 8M users a while back.

Gears being second kind of surprises me. I hated playing that online.

It dwarfed every game being played on XBL until Halo 3 came out, which is why its so high up there. It pretty much reigned 2007 for 9 months.

Not saying it isn't true, just that it doesn't make any sense.

Even if there were zero original Xbox owners with gold, how could there be 10 million gold subscriptions and 77% of 360 owners with gold? 10 million is 77% of 13 million.

The math makes no sense to me.

Also... 500 million dollars in XBL gold subscriptions a year??? I want dedicated servers!
 
I dunno, but I'm sure they're also counting co-op games in with all the online activity.
 
Rainbow was great online in some ways. Others not so good at all. Visuals were ewwww online, doesnt matter much when having fun but to me it did. Weapons were so unbalanced it was not funny, honestly not ONE point to having sniper rifles in the game. I know they patched that later but man its still not balanced. Was campers heaven in the game also. I did enjoy it and would have recomended Rainbow to anyone prior to Halo and CoD4 release. But the game had flaws that would make you quit playing it after a few months like i did. Still play offline tho! Terrorist Hunt Coop FTW.
 
Well Rainbow 6 had a lot going for it.

A good campaign.
A great splitscreen co-op.
A great 4 player online co-op.
An excellent online versus, with great team deathmatch.

To top it all off, if you were on the PS3, after playing Resistance for months and months you wanted something new that was good. If you were on Xbox 360 since launch, you were waiting for something good... since launch.

I mean yeah... COD4 beats it now... but it was better than Gears online.
 
Oh i do agree. I just want to point out its notsuch a great game that pulled all people into it. Rainbow was known to be an very difficult game on pc. Least to me it was and i consider myself a FPS wizz. I think some stayed away from the game because of its past. Other then that it has alot of flaws i can look back on. I really enjoyed the campaign. I love the offline co op. But man NO WHERE else in the world does an MP7A1 out fire a Sniper rifle from across a map lol. Well if CoD4 had MP7 i am sure it would as well with the huge unbalance in that game also;; But it does beat GeoW online for me, i agree there fire lol.

EDIT: I really wanted to add love for Terrorist Hunt. Man EVERY game from now on needs to add something like this. My friends at home dont want to play me, they know i win local prizes and such here lol. They want to have fun with me. Terrorist Hunt FTW. They honestly to this day come over and ask to play Rainbow, i must admit that.

I dunno. Maybe those are close to the real sales figures and the 17M consoles they just reported are just shipped consoles. I dunno. Does not effect me as i have all systems lol.
 
Fire man. I was thinking about it and damn some of those live gold members must be PC players no? Maybe not that many but that just lowers the number of 360s more if the 77% is correct >.>
I dont understand the numbers now. I did ready further and these numbers came straight from bill gates it seems. Bleh did they fawk the numbers up? lol.
 
Forget the PC players, consider the original Xbox.

I always assumed gold members were less than 50%... but I mean, it's not a point to argue against real numbers, just my assumption. Those numbers just don't make that much sense to me.

Also gotta wonder how the 2 million people such as myself, on the 30 day trial count.
 
Rainbow was a little broken. People used to get pissed at me because I could snipe them across the map with a Spas 12. A shotgun isn't going to hurt someone from one roof to another in Kill house.
 
No game that's based on real weapons is going to represent perfectly. COD4 and Rainbow6 got issues, but I mean... come on. Look at some of the ridiculous weapons with Gears, Halo, Resistance, ext. They're grounded in sci fi so they get a pass and people focus on the gameplay, Rainbow and COD4 people expect a much higher standard cause you can compare the weapons to the real life versions. I just forget reality and play the game as is... I honestly don't have a clue about real guns anyway. Never touched one or want to particularly.
 
No I don't care too much about it being completely realistic fire but a shotgun all the way across a map is just rediculous and people hated me for it in rainbow.
