101 Quotations by or about Atheists

I find that Atheists are as bad as Theists in that they both claim to know without a shadow of a doubt that they are correct both without evidence to back up their claims.

I'd say the lack of evidence for gods backs up our claims just fine. Not that it really matters, since I treat agnostics as de facto atheists, since I doubt many people live their lives as if there might be a god.

Doesn't it piss you off when people come to your restaurant to eat then ask why you weren't in church while they act like you are doing something wrong by working instead of going to church. The part that pisses me off is that you wouldn't be at work if they didn't come to your restaurant. If you think it's wrong to work on Sundays, you should think it's equally as wrong to spend money (causing someone else to have to work) on Sundays.

And people that leave bibles in place of tips... You will eventually get something bad done to your food if you always stiff your server, but continue to go there and eat. And yes, leaving a religious pamphlet in place of a tip is worse than just not leaving a tip.
Yes. With a lot of different church services and functions available at many churches, if anyone wants to join a church they can when they want to within reason. Yes the Lord rested on the 7th day but the Bible also tells us things like don't lie or cut our hair. As far as I know everyone has done that or at least some other sin. Also, I strongly believe that someone can practice their own faith without the need of a church. Too many people go to church and thinks that automatically makes them an awesome person and they still leave church and be an asshole to someone. I know that I wasn't the only Christian that worked on Sundays and the fact of the matter is places wouldn't be open on Sundays if there wasn't a demand. The only restaurants that I know of that stay closed on Sundays are family run ones and Chic-Fil-a. Generally the church going crowd brings in tons of sales but tips worse than the other people too. That's why we called it "Heathen Sundays" at the last place I worked. XD

Oh damn i love chick-fil-a but mainly because its the only place where i can get sweet tea out here without having to put sweetener in it myself and you don't know how much of a difference that makes.. Their sandwiches are good but i love their nuggets with Polynesian sauce and the waffle fries... damn you its 9am and they aren't serving real food yet.

one of the fastest de-rails in this section ever. i've never been much of a chick-fil-a person anyway.

<on topic>
i was raised roman catholic, went to bible school on Saturday, and church every Sunday for the first 19 years of my life. But nothing of any of this ever really made any sense to me when i was young. As i got older and learned more about religion in general i started to see the potholes and contradictions more and more. Nothing really seemed to add up right. Throughout recorded history religion has been the glue of numerous societies. I have a pretty religious family but i'm not a religious person in the slightest.

All we really have about religion is thousand year old interpretations of events that have been interpreted over and again by those before us, and possiblly manipulated (i'll elaborate a bit why i think that below). If anyone asked me about it all i can say it two thousand years ago events of significant influence took place on this planet that spawned a belief system that seems to do more bad then good. I'm not gonna pretend to "know" what happened back then like so many religious people do.

"6. I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires. - Susan B. Anthony"

this statement i agree with the most out of all the quotes cause i am also of the opinion that, whether or not he is real idk, that God is no longer humanities savior, he's become its pawn. Human beings have used his name and image to justify more things from atrocities to general negativeness then we can count. Just look at the westboro baptist "church" for a recent example. Hell, religious principles are even involved with this war bush started. The Taliban are using their faith & their god's name to justify their actions against us and their own countrymen. He is a symbol of power that can be used to rally the like minded and those lost and looking for a path. And power is one thing humanity cant get enough of. I mentioned the stroies of the bible can have possibly been manipulated. We really have no way of knowing with 100% certainty so im not gonna saying it was. But it is a man written book. i could have easily been done so or it may have just been misninterprited. Given the era it covers the humans of that day were vastly ignorant of the world around them. Alexander the Great "conquered the world" at one point. we know today he basically only took control of one section of one of 7 continents he knew about. But back then it was the world because thats all they knew. The people of that era were very smart, but they were ignorant of the vastness of the world around them. The rest of the world was there reguardless of their lack of knowledge of it. thats my biggest qualm with the credibility of religion. It's never said in the old or new testiment, but we can infer from reading it that it's core is that the earth, for all intents and purposes, is center of the universe. And we know full well today it isnt.

I fear the golden arches...

and I thought Batman's enemies went to Arkham! Hmmmm.... Arkham....Arch Enemies... Arches.....McDonalds! Hmmmmmmm.... Coincindence? I think not!

That is hardly a play on batman's enemies... I think that someone is not a fan of Death Note because to me it appears to be a clear reference to Ryuk who is a "Shinigami" or Death God.
