How do two-bard merit parties work? What is their normal setup?

I static with a PLD (I'm MNK), are 2-bard parties viable with a PLD? He has joyeuse, if that makes a difference.

You can use 2 bards with a paladin, but it won't be near the exp rate of a cannon. Paladin's damage output really isn't high enough to kill fast enough to really need 2 bards.

As for how they work.

1 brd pulls and sings for melees and the other one sings for melees and mage.

Normally parties like double haste and double minuet.

Also if you have a pld you static with and 2brds I recommend having a rdm to refresh the pld.

the set up I'm usually in is something like BRD BRD NIN(me!) WAR WAR or MNK WHM or RDM on brd pulls, and gives marches. the other gives ballads and minuet/madrigal. Sorry for any spelling/grammer, just got off work and brain is fried

Edit: a well geared thf can take the place of the mnk or war as well i suppose

ohrly...

I was getting some pld buffer the other week.
4 person PT: brd, rdm, pld, pld.
Did about 12k/hour.
Another brd and pld on that and it would be just as good as any other PT.

Although, you're average PLD taking the job to 75, probably dont have the equip.
And my tp gear is quite bleh to be honest aswell. Needs moar homam.

But ok. Pld still can't do dmg. Lawl.

Let me guess, cherry picking imps in an empty mire?

Reko is doing an unfair comparison, Fyg has outdamaged ridillberk wars on his pld, the average pld-party most likely wont see that exp.

Ftyg is to amazing to be compared to your standard Paladin.

I've done that with a 3-man party before, mnk, mnk, brd. Throw in some more mnk/nin/war and another brd and it'll still smoke your party's exp.

Don't get your panties in such a knot, I've never said that with a paladin you couldn't get good exp, just that it's not cannon-level exp.

Fyg as in Fygla.

Yes Baja, I didn't say it was the best exp you could get.
I just said that PLD can deal damage just fine.
And some alot better than the random Joe mnk/nin/war you see seeking out there.

Yes, but you're not likely going to get the 25k+ per hour if you go with the random gimped war/mnk/nin's that are out there, you need well geared/merited people who know what they're doing; which will outparse a paladin.

I used to do two brd parties with my old Linkshell all the time. Brd/nin does (usually) two haste songs on the melees and pulls, brd/whm mostly stays at camp and does minuet and madrigal on the melees and ballads on the mage. Obviously depending on your melees the songs will vary. Two minuet and two march, two minuet, one madrigal, one march, whatever. As a rdm, I don't care or notice a huge difference with two bards instead of one. As a brd, I usually preferred the two brd parties, but then that's probably because I'm a pretty bad brd, lol.

It's not going to jump up and send your exp flying, but it's still fun. Having two brds does also mean you can go wherever you please and easily run out most other parties though >_>

AF2 hat rdms onry ^.^

I would be quicker to sacrifice the 2nd minuet for madrigal as opposed to the march; either way, your melees should be eating meat no matter what in a double BRD party. Seeing as madrigal is 32acc before merits, 37 with capped merits, the massive boost to acc from that alone will eliminate acc problems on most anything that's not a lurker.

BRD/NIN puller, keeps up two melee buffs. BRD/WHM support, keeps up two other melee buffs and the ballads (and does Elegy on NIN mobs once their shadows are down, since the puller probably didn't land their Elegy-pull due to utsu).

Melee buffs are Blade Madrigal, Victory March, Minuet 4, and the fourth one is a situational choice between Sword Madrigal, Advancing March, and Minuet 3. Factor melee food into it as well - if they all eat sushi, knock Sword Madrigal off the list; if they all eat meat, knock Minuet 3 off the list.

If they can't even decide amongst themselves what they're eating, then ignore all above advice and use Pastoral, Gavotte, Capriccio, and Aubade for melee buffs.

I'm partial to having Operetta on instead of Capriccio. But seriously, it's more likely that you'll always keep on both march songs and pick and choose from either min 4 or the higher lvl madrigal.

Oh, and when going with 2 bards, depending on the party of course, I've seen a huge difference in xp rates instead of just 1. With an amazing pt and only 1 bard 25k/hr is sexy, but odds are you won't ever have time to give everyone their buffs. I've had some instances by myself that I just didn't have time to even give the melees buffs because they were killing too fast. In the end that may eventually lead to some form of downtime. With 2 brds I've pushed close to 40k/hr, but that's crazy and you probably won't be in the party long cause it'll fry your nerves as a bard. When we were doing it both bards were pulling and both had just enough time to get buffs up on both the melees and healer
