I want to get another modem for my house so that I don't have to deal with the wireless crap.

My question is do I have to pay double the fee for my ISP?

I've already looked at wireless routers and I already have one for my computer. ( Wireless - G USB Network Adapter ) but I don't want to deal with what I deal with already ( computer connection seems to slow down )

So I'm thinking that if I just get a modem for my room, that I just can get rid of the gradually slowness and lower the chance of disconnecting.

If they do double the fee ( ISP: California Comcast ) which wireless router is highly suggested for connecting a Playstation 2 with Linksys?

Well it depends. If you have two set ups for a modem, no there wouldnt be a double charge.
But if you dont, there will be a charge for them to come out and install the new line.
On the issue of a router, Routers usually do not slow down your internet.
Have you set up the routers internal firewall?
And because it is wireless, it would be expected to lose some internet speed as wireless is never as fast as hard wire.
And if your problem is with playing ffxi, In my experience, FFXI sucks on wireless. It locks up alot and does slow down. And thats just my experience from playing on two different wireless connections on two different PCs.

like the cord that directly connects to the internet the one that the company usually comes and installs, the Fiber optics cable. youd need one hooked to each modem. unless you got a gold splitter and a really long cable yourself and ran it.

With 99% of commercial ISPs you can only have 1 modem per account. What you need is a router or possibly a switch. I would go with a router and if you run an ethernet cord over 50 feet, put a line booster on the end of it. Possibly a hub of some sort that you plug into a wall outlet. Hell if you got money to burn though then go with another account with your ISP and get 2 routers hooked up.

I do have a gold splitter :) but not a long enough cord...

If I decided not to get another modem..

Then whats best for wireless? I'm looking around too but I'll like some advice on which one to get.

I heard that the Xbox wireless adapter is really good
