2006 Midterm elections

House>> Please?
Senate>> Maybe

Senate passes barely.

House>> So Bush how bout this bill.
Bush>> I take my stamp and I put the VETO on its.

maybe; except it probably will be a dem. senate too w/ a 51-49 split (cnn just said dems won in montana, and im sure dems have virginia);

but bush would be a fool to veto some of the things the dems bring to him; such as increasing minimum wage and tax cuts for the middle class (by increasing taxes on the rich, which is fine by me; until i become rich i hope people in the upper 10% pay out the nose).

edit: SWEET attilla the rum 'resigned'; it just keeps getting better and better.

Trippy: Last time I checked CSM...they don't have senate. Next election maybe. I don't watch the news I read it mainly (just saw sire's CNN comment).

Veli: Yeah it is going to be more difficult for gop issues to get passed through. Doesn't mean changes are going to be as dramatic as people think. Seperation of powers is still in favor of republicans, the election results are going to have an effect but at most the election was a mandate on Iraq War versus many other issues.

Sire: Bush is less likely to Veto some issues but only in order to placate the republican party or else he wouldnt hesitate imo, I doubt senate will not provide alot of resistance nonetheless.

Kinda glad Lamont lost... God... I'd rather see Joe represent my state rather than that bastard.

And quite frankly, with the new secretary of state, if the new democratic senate doesn't approve of it, Bush's last two years of presidency is going to suck even more.

/ja "Chainspell" <President Bush>
/wait 1
/ma "Veto" <All available bills made by the Senate>

Hurray for our oh so complicated Bill Approving Methods!

I also heard rumors amongst the internet blogs that there might be an impeachment proposition? Interesting.

LolDickCheney. Why impeach. <- Not a question.

Trippy got way ahead of me on this. I finished watching the Bush speech and researching that Robert Gates fellow before even thinking about getting online.

All last night the dems were saying that impeachment wasnt even on the table, so i dont think thats gonna happen (which, in my opinion is a shame).

No point in impeachment unless you can get rid of the entire administration.

If I remember correctly if you impeach enough people you will eventually get to the speaker of the house....which is a democrat now.

Which is about as likely as me having a vagina.

I personally don't believe congress will go as far to impeachment. But the house has the right to subpoena anyone they want and investigate any government officials. I would expect this "secretive administration" will have their dirty laundry aired.

Look for Rumsfeld, Cheney, Rove, Hassart, to be required to cooperate in investegations in the scandels some house dems think.
I.E

Rumsfeld Iraq
Cheney - Governmental Contracts to Halliburton
Rove - The whole spy issue
Hassert - Foley

Congrats to the Dems. Now its time to put up or shut up. We'll see how much Liberal Pelosi gets done.

My guess is that Congress will be deadlocked for the next 2 years, and nothing will be accomplished.

nancy palosi is 3rd in line for presidency; I honestly think there is a chance now to get away from the blatant partisanship thats been rampant in the past few years. With things close, it will force the 2 parties to work together. I think the dems have to put up in order to keep power, but i also think that the repubs have seen what the majority of this country really want. hopefully people can come back to the middle.

Well, it's 51-49 in the Senate. I really doubt that every member of both parties will only stay with their side on every decision.

And for the House of Reps... lol no budget ideas for a long while!

I'm a die-hard Republican, and even I think that the party got what was coming to them.

6 years with full control over the White House and both halves of Congress and the only good thing they did was prosecute the war on terror and get two more conservative judges on the bench (McCain even wussed out of the full fight it should have been).

No fix for Social Security (hello system bankruptcy in 2027)
No fix for the borders (countless illegal aliens streaming across each day)
No permanent tax cuts (hello higher tax rates as soon as the Democrats vote them in)
No reduction of government/major budget cuts (hello national debt)

Not much of anything.

I trust the Democrats about as far as I can throw them, but the GOP fully deserved to lose this election.
