300 - the official thread (spoilers probably)

I didn't read anything but the OP, because I'm just too damn excited to see a 300 thread so I can express my deep and utter love for this epic achievement in filmaking history.

It's my new favorite movie, honestly. As far as action fliks go, this is by far the best I have ever seen. Went to see it at the first showing at midnight since all my friends were goin then too, otherwise I would have waited, but I'm glad I didn't. Ordered my tickets online a few days in advance, and I'm glad I did, becuase by the time the movie started, there was not a single seat in that Imax, not a single fucking seat open. Left two and a half hours early, got there an hour later, and the place was already half full, but we still got some damn decent seats.
Let me say that the Imax was the only way to experience this movie righteously. That was the first time I had ever been to one, and it was fucking mind blowing. You know I honestly can't say anything about the movie itself, because there are no words in any known language to give it due credit, just go see for yourself.

The nearest Imax theater around here is in Chicago. BUT, I've seen it twice in digital, which is basically like DVD but on a movie screen. Not IMAX, but pretty damn awesome. This weekend, we sold over 6000 tickets in 3 days (12:00 showing friday morning til 10:45 on sunday night). I have to agree, no known words in any intelligible tongues can grace the majesty that is this movie.

This movie was absolutely amazing, and I am going to see it again tonight. Just watching 300 fuck up his entire army made me laugh a bit. I liked the part where he said he might as well march their wives up here based on what he's seen so far. Or when he couldnt bow because a cramp in his leg from killing his men that day. The dry humor they had was really funny.

10/10 +1

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

My favorite part is the very end, no matter how many times I've seen it, its STILL makes me laugh. The Persian's killed the spartan king and his 300, so what do we do? Cry and mope and /wrists? FUCK NO! They march up 10,000 spartan soldiers. If 300 fucked up a VERY large percentage of Xerxes army...just imagine what 10,000 will do. Seriously, lol.

That was an amazing movie!! I need to go see this again. Luckily my mythology class might be taking a field trip to the iMax :D

Historical question, forgive me I'm negligent. Who won in the end? Was it the persians?

PS. Did anyone else love the metal during the fight scenes?

damn well where can i start
i kinda fell asleep during the start of that movie

just really boring and that's only my opinion. Sure he was a badass and on a killing rampage but damn the story was just a little blah. Maybe if they had much more fight scenes.

and at the end wow wow wow

i was really looking forward to seeing that last battle with the 10,000. That was a real big let down....

i give it a 5 out of 10

nice fight scenes, we just needed more to make up for what little was there

Nope, the Spartans. Even though the Persian's has far greater numbers then the spartans, training > numbers. And yes, I loved the metal during the fight scenes.

you have no fucking taste in movies

QFT.

If the whole movie was nothing but fight scenes, you'd wonder "Why the hell are they there?" or "WTF, Who are these people?" Theres this thing, in a movie, called a climax, where the action is at its peak. No, not sex climax, movie climax.

I hope I'm not the only Gears of War player who wanted to yell "Berserker!" when the Pesians started approaching with their chained-up giant at their side. Alas, no Hammer of Dawn was readily available but the Spartans found a way to improvise.

I was thinking "...they have a Cave Troll..."

But just as bad.

The Athenian navy played a huge part in the Persians defeat.

But the Athenians are "boy lovers". lol. Yes, the athenian navy did play a huge part, but the focus of the movie was on the Spartans. Athens had more technology then Sparta did, but Sparta had many more well-trained soldiers (as we saw in the movie).

I'm watching the movie TOMORROW!

Yes, Puerto Rico got it a week later. While things like Spider-Man and other movies premiere a day earlier here. Go figure... ; ;
