I've been trying to come back for quite awhile as some may know. I finally found a copy of the Vanadiel Collection of FF for my 360 after months of looking and i finally have the funds to get everything all set up, but i keep running in to an error when tying my gamer tag to my POLID.

I chose my gamer tag (SAARZ) and i held the start button and hit okay. It starts logging me in and then it tells me that my gamer tag isn't tied to the ID so i can't access POL. I plan on sitting around all day monday on the web chat, but if i can start getting my version update done before then, it would be just grand. Anyone have this problem before?

Are you reactivating your old account? If so then it is most likely tied to an older Gamertag and you will have to use that Gamertag to log on.

I believe you tie it to your gamertag at the very first screen, where you select which account you want to use.

Like Auron said, if it's tied to another gamertag then you'd have to use that one. I was told there is a way to have it unlinked to a gamertag but that the process is a pain.

process is not a pain, you just need to call POL and explain you need to unlink a gamertag and they will just ask all the pertinent info regarding your account including the original CC number associated with the one you are unlinking. it took me 5 mnutes on the phone.

This would be a good deal of trouble for me, as i'm inheriting a character that belonged to someone i can't exactly communicate with easily. Do they ask original CC info, or latest CC info, as this character has seen quite a few different hands before mine.

My brother created a character on his freshly installed copy of FFXI on his 360 just to screw around with while waiting to inherit the character/account he has now. He had the same problem, if I understand you correctly. He basically tied the character/account he created to his main gamertag. When he inherited the character/account he is currently using, it wouldn't let him tie it to his main gamertag even with the character and account information deleted from the first temporary account. It sucks, but he just just created a new Xbox Live gamertag, at no extra charge, and uses that one for his new inherited character/account. If I remember how the error messages came up on his xbox right, I think the problem might be with Xbox Live, not POL.
