I've been trying for a while now to find out about 3d gaming. I've heard some good things about the 3d monitors, but I just bought a second monitor a few months ago and I'm not quite ready to buy a third to replace my old one just yet. Had I known about 3d-ready monitors coming out soon, I would have held off on my purchase, and I don't really want to give up my dual screen setup that I have going, as it's had a great impact on my efficiency to get work done. So for now I'm going to have to "suffer" with my two 2D monitors, and not go 3D for computer gaming.
I do, however, have a 3D-capable 65" 1080p TV.
My problem though, is how do I get it set up to do 3D gaming? Movies would be awesome too, but there's no 3D movies or even players out there yet, and my TV is mainly for gaming so 3D gaming is my priority at the moment.
From the little information I've been able to find out, it'll require me to hook up a decent-level gaming PC(my current one is way better than the required specs) to my TV and only play PC games. I'm really hoping there's another way, since there's not a whole lot of PC games I'm really interested in enough to want to hook up my PC or build a brand new one just for 3D. I might still do it to test with, since I already have the PC, but I'm not going to leave my PC out plugged into my TV or drag it out there every time I'm going to play a game.
So, I'm curious if anyone knows anything about it. Do I really have to jump through all of the hoops just to get 3D gaming going in my living room. Is it even worth it, does 3D even add anything to the games that would be worth the time/money/effort of getting it up and running?
Oh, and for the PS3 owners, apparently at CES this year, sony announced the PS3 will soon be able to output in 3D. This will probably be the solution I'm looking for, and it could get me to start buying multi-plat games on the PS3 instead of the 360. I'll have to wait and test it when it first comes out, but I'm hoping it'll be worth it.
