As some of you may or may not know, Pandora.com is a kickass online radio station. When a friend showed me this gem I fell in love. Now when you make an account on the site it says they only provide the service to americans. I live in Canada. I would of course do what any person would do who loves the service, I made up the info so I could get it.

Now they have gone a step further whereas they are blocking Canadian IP's. Now THANKFULLY my work servers are located somewhere in Nashville so I can access my baby from work but at home...no.

The challenge of course is find a way to get a Canadian IP onto pandora. I have tried some sites like hidemyass.com or urlcloak.net These sites get me past the "we're sorry but you live in Canada and we can't give you service page" and pandora goes through its paces of loading but then it gives me a "We're sorry but our servers are not working we are scrambling to fix this" I know it's not down because here I am at work listening to it as I type yet when I go to my other PC that is running of the same ISP I have at my home it's gives the server error.

I will accept defeat if there is truly no way around this, but it's the internet - there HAS to be a work around. I am begging anyone with the knowledge to help me please.

For those of you lucky Americans who do not know of www.pandora.com go check it out.

Note: Any IP outside of USA doesnt work. So yea, incase my title confuses anyone.

Scrap what i wrote, i took the time to read more and found this and it worked for me.

- write the pandora.com address in the proxify tab
-Just "Uncheck" remove all scripts and click proxify
-start laughting

https://proxify.com

.
.
.

EDIT: i was too quick to write, cause basic proxy servers fail. So i've found this site.

And you need this software.

if need be read about the software:

What more you will need is an american web host, they are dirt cheap, like $5 for entry. If you look around you may even find one for free.

the 1st part in that Tutorial says how we need to open the host file located in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc.. But does not explain how to do it.

What you actually do is choose to open the file using "note pad" at the bottom of the messege you will see:

127.0.0.1 followed by a rather large space and a the word "input" or iphost.. whatever it is rewrite that to "www.pandora.com". then save and close.

You should have no trouble following the rest of the tutorial. That 1st part is simular to writing an ethernet address for Maya flexlm folder, whichc is a rare means of .... you get the point. so you would know.

excellent thanks for all the info, Im going to try it once I get home to see if I can get my internet radio back! ^^

Been reading about this pandora. Is it true, after inputing a few songs you like, it brings you songs you would like ? If not, what's the deal with this thing, i'm interested.

it brings songs that have a similar sound to the song you type in, or the band. Sometimes bands have different style songs so it'll play a wider variety of songs similar to whatever band you type in. If you type in a song, it'll focus songs similar to just that song and not the whole band. You can also rate songs using thumbs up or thumbs down. thumbs up means it'll play that particular song more often and play other songs similar to it. thumbs down bands the song from the station all together and songs that sound similar to it as well. If you band two or three songs from the same band, it won't play anymore songs from that band at all. thumbs up/down system is basically used to literally customize what you want to hear. The station you make can shift around as you rate it. Sometimes pandora adds new songs to their liberary which can add more to your station. Plus they've added new features recently by adding a search option to browse other stations that users made and you can share their station. Theres tens of thousands of them too. Only thing is, is that you can't edit their station like you can your own, only listen.

Pandora has a very large liberary of songs that are mainstream, independant, live albums, covering almost every type of music genre possible. One of the best sites for discovering new music from bands you never heard of. Plus you can bookmark songs and albums which saves the info of that band or song in your profile so that way you don't have to write down a song that you like but never heard of. Its diffenatly one of my favorite radio sites.

Lol This is actually quite funny there is a post for Pandora on this site. I like it for when I am at school so I can play music while working on projects, and my friends like it as well. Go go living in America. Defiantly worth joining especially because the site is free. You also get unlimited play of songs with out the join add popping up.

im confused cause i dident have to do anything and the radio is working.
Did you guys have to sign up for something?

k i just signed up and being the music lover that i am
this website ROCKS

listening to moe right now, sick band

yeah you can listen without making an account but it lets you listen to just a few songs and then it makes you sign up. Its more like a demo really. Plus you don't get to keep your stations that you make and all the bookmarks that you save.

Actually this is the site that I discovered pandora from. Someone sometime last year made a thread about it. Pandora has been around for quite awhile now.
