A few Abyssea questions

So after a two year absence I started XI again a few days ago. I'm going to be getting the three Abyssea expansion when I get paid on Friday and was just curious how they work as far as grouping.

Are they designed for alliance LS play. Or are they suitable for 6 random people to exp in? Also, do you have to be 75 to even group in there? If not, what is the minimum level? I'm currently a 73 blm / whm.

I tried browsing through the older posts but I didn't really see anything answering these questions. Any help would be appreciated! ^_^

You can go in with only a single party, but you'll get a much higher return on investment, so to speak, with a full alliance. Pretty much any level can enter; some folks actually leech their subs up that way. As a BLM, you shouldn't have too many difficulties getting an invite to an exp alliance though.

Anyone can try and succeed at Abyssea solo or with 18. It is honestly the perfect place in FFXI. You can do 100k exp an hour Pts with 4 people, kill badass NMs with a group of 6, or just have a bunch of fun with your social friends. Everything about Abyssea is amazing.

I did my first run a couple nights ago and it was...in a word...amazing. After four hours I walked away with 38k curor and two levels. xD I was told by an LS mate that the exp usually builds a bit faster then that, but I was more then happy with it.

Now that I'm 75 though, do you think it's worth it to place some merits before breaking the first level limit?
