BEASTMASTERS DO NOT GIMP PARTY EXP UNLESS THEY USE A PET STRONGER THAN EVEN MATCH.

That is all. I've had way too many questions lately via tells or whatever as I'm strolling about, or in recent parties as my 62 BST. No, having a BST in the party will not gimp your exp. You will not get any less exp than you normally would, and the only one taking such a hit to exp would be the BST himself.

The only one case a BST will gimp exp is if he uses a pet that is T-IT. All BST know how foolish this is, because the charm would only hold for 30 seconds at best with full AF (Unless said BST two hours), and probably get the party killed (Unless the pet is released ASAP away from the party, providing excellent link/aggro control).

Lol Lecan, When I was lvling monk in Qufim, I invited a bst and the PT got upset with me, then the RNG pulled 3 flies. I tanked 1 fly bst charmed the other and let it fight the third, our tank took off running at the site of the 3 flies and died by a gob... PT went from "BST ruin xp" to "thank god we had that bst or we all would of died"

Seems some still think that Bst kill PT xp, wonder where they get it from...
 
Yeah. I had a BST in a party in Valkurm once, and he did phenominally well. He charmed an exact Even Match monster, and we were getting Exp Chain 5 of like 250-300 experience points.
 
My BST is currently 21 so if you ever want me for a party send a /tell to Paddington in-game...I will drop what I'm doing and rush right to you lol.
 
Funny this was brought up today. Last night I was fixing to make a party with a bst friend (when I got an invite on my blackmage so I kinda gave up after the invite). I told my friend that I was working on it, but I'd probably get a lot of resistance from the party's stereotypes of bst if I asked them if a bst was ok.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the bst feel the impact of gimped xp more than the rest of the party? If jug pets are used over charmed mobs does that make any difference?
 
The BST is the only one who feels the impact unless the pet rates tough, in which case it would likely turn on the party mid-fight. Jugs pets guarantee the BST is the only one taking a hit. I remember cooking a bunch of sheep up and delivering the jugs to Lecan when he was in a normie party in Gustav Tunnel, before I took up the job.

Jug pets unfortunately hurt your exp just as a charmed pet would..and they also tend to be weaker than EMs in most cases. Only really useful if your pet dies from a VT/IT link that you can't charm or something and need emergency backup..

<3 u Lecan. You're a good example of how a BST can function in a PT very well. And are welcomed anytime a PT is being created.

On the contrary Mish, jug pets work almost as well as an EM pet. Jug pets tend to rate about as powerful as a DC pet, they just have less defense and HP than a real pet would. Sabre Siravarde was doing as much as Langly (NIN/WAR) at 62 in a few of our parties.

Jug pets work well, just EM pets hit a little harder and with more accuracy.

Y'know, I stopped by an EB Games not too long ago, and they STILL don't have a new version of that guide.
But yeah, that guide is total crap. They're like a year and a half behind now. It only shows like 9/10'ths of the spells now. PLD gets Raise at 75, etc.

It's way past it's prime now. I only use it for quick reference when I don't have the Internet available. When I DO have Internet, I use everyone's favourite ffxi.somepage.com (ffxi.allakazham.com or whatever sucks horribly).
